Re: Season tickets?

I had a season ticket for a seat in Block E since The Hive opened and paid monthly throughout the year, not just the season, at "old git" concession rates. I never collected the last season ticket, paid for by going to the club and using a bank card, since the club ceased taking the monthl...

Re: Boreham Wood (Hive) The Wood, The Mud & The Ugly Thread

In response to the opposition fans' tedious rant including the word "Barnet" and another word beginning "bar" our discussion concerned motorway service stations and the poet William Wordsworth ( 1770-1850 ) and in particular his poem composed in 1802 and first published in 1807, ...

Re: Daggers (Mire) The Only Way Is Drainage Thread

Saffron Walden are playing this evening, despite the rain. Sloping pitch. Took the rectangle route going out : A505 and A1, and the diagonal route back: Hertford, A10, Braughing, Royston Road back. It was a pleasant drive, some clear sky, but with warnings of gritting from 10 pm. Another 100 miles o...

Re: The Hive to be discussed in the House of Commons

The proceedings in the Commons seem to have been an opportunity for the participants, both Conservative members, to place on record that they have raised the issue. Nothing more, nothing less. It is a waste of time to stand up and say " I don't know much about this but the Camden Council owned ...

Re: Chavenage (Tip) The Forrest Gump Match Thread

Three Counties Radio reported that Martin Allen headed an advertising board when he disagreed with the referee. There was also some referee orchestrated chaos over a dropped ball that wasn't contested, followed by a whistle and another dropped ball. Those were the exciting moments.

Re: Chavenage (Tip) The Forrest Gump Match Thread

Three Counties Radio has two commentators, one called Steve Watkins. Either he or his mate said during the last bit of play that the " Referee needs to have a word with Sean Batt." The summary was " Not great football but enthralling stuff." Also "Stevenage have had the bett...

Re: Chavenage (Tip) The Forrest Gump Match Thread

BBC Three Counties Radio is broadcasting full commentary on 95.5 FM for Bedfordshire and North Hertfordshire and other places. Sorry if this doesn't extend to South Hertfordshire and Edgware, or even Barnet.

Re: Crawley (Hive) The Creepy Christmas Cracker Match Thread

A utility type song. If it had stayed at 2 all another verse goes:

Oh what have I done
To deserve this fate
It’s all going wrong
Even the cab fare
Has been and gone
And now I’m lagging
In deepest Tottenham

( or Edgware for those of a sensitive nature )

Re: Crawley (Hive) The Creepy Christmas Cracker Match Thread

Great match, bit windy, am informed space station passed overhead deep into second half hidden by cloud. Interesting movements by airliners. Curious officaldom in attendance. A chorus from "Love Struck", a Madness hit from many moons ago, to accompany John Akinde's quickstep back to the mi...

Re: Cambridge (Hive) This Match Thread dont need no edukatio

Mr. Allen's team talk might be an adaptation of Mr. Banks from " Mary Poppins", substitute Barnet for " a British Bank" and The Hive for " a British Home" in the following: Mr. Banks: A British bank is run with precision A British home requires nothing less! Tradition, ...

Regarding "So", could this be a reference to Mary Poppins singing: " Sew, a needle pulling thread " ? Ho ho.

Re: The Bloods and the Bees triumphant

Droylsden founded 1892, Saffron Walden 1872 and both team colours red hence the same nickname, I suppose.

The paper says there was a "Joyous Pitch Invasion" when the final whistle blew last Saturday. Very tasteful. More tea, vicar ?

The Bloods and the Bees triumphant

From the "Walden Local" published 29th April 2015: " A fantastic conclusion to the season saw the Bloods ( Saffron Walden Town FC ) gain promotion at the end of a thrilling contest, watched by a record 762 spectators, as Saffron Walden and Great Yarmouth both fought to the end in the ...

£1.4 Million Game v Gateshead

I was delighted to see that The Times (national newspaper) printed a piece by James Masters on Saturday 25th April following an interview with TK. It's on page 14 of the "Sports" section. TK is quoted as saying: " I'm not a gambling man, but here I am, about to watch a game of footbal...
