Bad luck lads you did your bit. Mad Dog rallied the troops after two dire managerial appointments, unfortunately it was one game too late.
Coventry don't deserve to go up, I hope they enjoy their trip to Morecambe on a cold wet Winter's night next season.
FA enquiry needed into that result

Basically this. By all accounts on the Coventry forum it was embarrassing.SteveBee99 wrote:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disgrace_of_Gij%C3%B3n

The second half was like a pre season friendly with no intention of either team going for the win, its a form of cheating and gamemenship and brings the game into disrepute, the FA should look into this, they could fine clubs, give no points, or some kind of post sanction, this would go along way to stop this kind of thing happening in the future.

In all fairness to Coventry they did seem to be trying to win based on the statistics. Maybe they didn't go for it as hard as they could have knowing that the prize of a play-off spot was theirs as long as they didn't lose to Morecombe. So not losing was as important as winning to Coventry. As we know and the records show Morecombe are a team good at getting draws (19 this season) but not at winning (only 9 wins) three less wins than Barnet which is why they are where they are.northantsbee wrote:Bad luck lads you did your bit. Their own fans have admitted they played for the draw.dawat wrote:In all fairness to Coventry they did seem to be trying to win based on the statistics. Easy to talk about the Coventry match as frustrating as that result is, but the reason we were relegated isn't because of Coventry it's due to a combination of the managers prior to Allen, TK's appointment of said managers and the player's inability to perform at the levels they have for the past few weeks of the course of 46 games.
That said, we can be proud of the effort put in to save what was a disastrous season and be optimistic of a much more positive 2018/19 if we can keep hold of MA.

We have no one to blame but ourselves. I think MA proved our players are good enough under the right management.

You can't blame Coventry or Morecambe, as we would have done exactly the same thing in the same position. Relegation is decided after 46 games and not just 1. For long periods we were just not good enough, and unfortunately lost out. Had MA come back before Magoo or Westley then who knows, but we probably would not have been in this position.

A shame that our relegation today has taken attention away from 3 very nice goals by us, especially our 2nd and 3rd.

We got ourselves into a position where we are relying on others. Performances against Grimsby and Cheltenham in December were woeful. The capitulation at home to Carlisle was desperate. Saying that ill back Morecambe for relegation next season

A great effort by Martin Allen , inspiring the players to nearly pull off a miracle

If they did, then its a foolish day for them as they lost momentum from the last game and will no doubt not want to lose to Notts County if that's the manager's mentality. As we know its hard for a team to step up a gear once the mental die is cast. I predict that Coventry do not make it to the play-off finals let alone get promoted thanks to today's error of judgement on their part.#Beebot wrote:Their own fans have admitted they played for the draw.dawat wrote:In all fairness to Coventry they did seem to be trying to win based on the statistics. Morecambe for relegation from League 2 next season looks like a no-brainer to me.Nudger70 wrote:We got ourselves into a position where we are relying on others. Too little too late then guys! Think how many games we could have got another point in - Port Vale/Carlisle was the killers! Also if we’d scored 2 more last week we’d be safe!
At least I bet on the 0-0 at Coventry on Monday at 7/1 as well as numerous other bets on the draw!
We will bounce back within a few years but still very hard to take.
Oh how I hope Boreham Wood don’t go up!
