Underhill Turf
Re: Underhill Turf
So i take it the pitch is about to be ripped up in due course...
Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!
Re: Underhill Turf
How easy is it to maintain a piece of turf? Let the rainwater do its thing and the odd trim from time to time?
I'd hate to be responsible for murdering our heritage.

Re: Underhill Turf
Surprised this was not done sooner. Some clubs sell turf at the end of every season.
Re: Underhill Turf
If they sold the whole pitch, (which they won't of course), they'd stand to make £2.5 million!!! Although maths was never my strong point.

Re: Underhill Turf
To make it even more special, it would be great if the certificate of authenticy detailed roughly what area of the pitch your particular section of turf came from. Then you can re-kindle the memories of what action you saw on it.
For example, a section of turf near the top goal could have been from where Jake Hyde scored the last ever goal. Or you could have a section from the NW touchline where Jon Ford nutted Jimmy Quinn. Or maybe you have a piece from the middle of the pitch where you remember Scott McGleish celebrating with a somersault...

More seriously, am I the only one not really taken by the idea?
It sounds nice in theory, but it's only a patch of grass in a tray. What do you do with it when you've got it? Call me unsentimental if you want but I'm sure I'd soon get bored looking at it.

Imagine how special it would've been if you had gone to Underhill, been allowed to choose your spot and cut your own square of turf.ninestein wrote:To make it even more special, it would be great if the certificate of authenticy detailed roughly what area of the pitch your particular section of turf came from. If its cut and dried it will die !!
Re: Underhill Turf
Last time I visited Underhill the grass was about 2 feet high and full of weeds so I can't imagine what you'd get.
Re: Underhill Turf
You'd need to have a sloping garden for full effect.
