I usally run past Underhill in the mornings. This morning there was a horrible van drawing up as I went past: GMB Demolition and Earthworks. Sad day for those of us who grew up going to that beautiful stadium.

A bit of history collected here if you want to have a look http://www.beesoverseas.com/underhill-history.html

Sad day for everyone involved with Barnet FC, it's a shame that the ground can't be remembered with a little garden in the new school regarding Underhill or a little of the ground being kept intact for all the joy it brought to citizens of Barnet over the years.

That said, I think we should be very proud of The Hive and its facilities, I love the new ground, sure it hasn't got the character of Underhill but whenever I bring friends or relatives to the ground it gives me great pleasure showing them around the facilities.

A quick update on the demolition works.

A new access road is being created from Barnet Lane into the south stand car park in front of the pavillion. Work has started to remove the glass windows from the Durham suite, which suggests that the first phase will be the removal of south stand and Durham suite.

If this information is not wanted please say and I'll stop.

Is it possible for any pictures of the gradual removal of Underhill?

My phone camera isn't the best but if you wish I can dig out a proper camera. I'm just a bit undecided if this will cause some unnecessary upset.

Take the pictures and then issue a warning when uploaded. Then those that don't want to look can avoid them.

Not great photos but the new/temporary road is nearly ready from Barnet Lane and they're starting to strip out the walls etc from the top floor of the Durham suite and take it out of the windows they've removed into a waiting JCB. I will try to get a decent camera ready soon.

Hard to take. I ran past this this morning and thought "GW appointed at the same time as this is happening". Ironic. Tough to take.

No one can take the memories away though

Your photos are better than mine! Went past this afternoon and that digger use to take out the turnstiles and toilets in the southeast corner has now moved to the north east and is ripping out that corner. There's also something happening to the back of the east terrace.

Such a simple, unassuming few square yards of EN5.

But the stories it could tell !!
