Throwing out names
Ok I'm bored and bored with the circus that is Barnet Football Club, and the whole is Mark McGhee staying or going. So just for shits and giggles, just going to make a poll see how it goes really. I heard that Martin Allen turned the job down. If Martin Allen has turned us down where does this leave us??? Who does really want to work with us right now ?

Unfortunately, I think we’re stuck with MM.

Re: Throwing out names
I've had a thumb through this website and it makes pretty depressing reading.
It would probably have to be an unemployed individual as we've seen the GW response.
Who on earth could we attract from another club?
Who would see Barnet FC as a step up who would actually have the skills we need?
As far as a currently unemployed manager is concerned, those on the website would be unlikely to take that much of a drop, not unless they want to really start from scratch and take on a huge challenge.
Would they want 'relegated from football league' on their CV? Because it almost certainly would be.
Saving us from almost certain relegation would be great on the CV but the risk might be too great.
They'll no doubt bide their time until a decent job opportunity arises.
I think you're right, MM is likely here for the rest of the season and all that entails!!

Re: Throwing out names
If Martin Allen has knocked them back, the whole Barnet FC brand has now become toxic. So MM it is, followed by more struggles and ultimately relegation. I admit I hoped for someone other than Mad Dog, but at least he was a creditable last resort. What's Graham Westley up to these days? That's how desperate things now are.

Re: Throwing out names
I can see a number of reasons why Allen would have turned it down, and in many ways don't blame him (if this is even what's happened)
I) his recent health issues
II) previous survival victories to defend. When you go back to things they are often never the same second or third time round. Maybe he just believes the magic his run out and he doesn't want a likely relegation to finish his cv

I’ve gone for other - Michael Nelson. The players and fans seem to respect him at least. Surely that’s a big part of being a football manager.
Re: Throwing out names
Every time we have had a player manager in a FL season we have been relegated - Phillips 93/4 , Cottee 00/01 & Davids 12/13 so probably not a good idea!To bee or not to bee wrote:I’ve gone for other - Michael Nelson. I've gone for other - Coco the clown!
Get all the players to wear those oversized shoes and honk a horn, couldn't be any worse could it.
On a more serious note, I hope Saturday brings some hope, as I don't have much at present.

If and I do mean IF that is true Martin turned the job then I'm pleased to hear, a lot of our fans did not appreciate him when he was with us so why should he come back, also if he did turn us down then how embarrassing is that for TK? He more or less said after he left us that it was a chance to start a brand new exciting chapter for the club .

I would have said Waddock, but it looks like he's not interested.
