Not for the faint hearted........
Re: Not for the faint hearted........
It's obvious that there will be pictures of Underhill in various states of undress on this thread. See if you can use your will power not to access it if you don't want to see what others might want to. I do it a lot and don't read half as much on here as I did. Gowon give it a try.

Know what you saying about old family homes, don't think I could see my grandparents old home now with new people in it.pauln50 wrote:Nostalgia isn't always pleasant. My Mum sold the ancestral home in The Wood back in 94 after Dad died, and I always had a picture in my head of what it was like and all the work my Dad had done on it. Last year I looked on Google earth and I could not recognise which house was ours. I had to count the houses up from the end of the street to work it out. I wish I hadn't bothered. Similarly I want to remember Underhill at its best, crammed full and rocking.
Don't mind these old pictures of Underhill though, Will be weird seeing it when it a school though.

Posting photos on here is an important part of helping Bees fans move on I think. Thanks to those that post them. I'll keep looking at them as they appear. But to expect some Barnet fans to not comment on them is somewhat naive and bordering on patronising imo.

I quite like the concept of free speech.
Re: Not for the faint hearted........
It's very sad to see Underhill demolished. Many happy memories of the old stadium and for me that last official game with the Stack penalty save was a great send off. It's ironic in a way we had the stadium for as long as we did, because if Copthall had come off we would have said goodbye years ago.
I am more nostalgiac for the Barry Fry football which was a quarter of a century ago and those memories are part of the fabric if Underhill. The subsequent success under Fairclough didn't have the same vibe and for me Underhill ended up representing toil, struggle and mediocrity on the field.
No new build would gave been coveted in the same way with the smell of damp masonry and worse and the nostalgia would not have been felt in a new stadium at South Underhill either. The Hive complex is far sure superior to that that could have been achieved at Copthall, and is practically as far away and remote as the Hive allegedly is.

Cannot believe that no-one is taking the floodlights or South Stand
And also the state of that cricket pitch. Used to be a great place to play on.

Re: Not for the faint hearted........
They've obviously got a buyer for the floodlights and South Stadium as they're untouched, and the cricket pitch was in a shocking state.
Don't know why TK didn't sell the Underhill turf off in square feet sections, I'm sure there would've been plenty of willing buyers.

I'm sure he did sell some turf? Or is my memory playing tricks? I've got two spurs seats from WHL in my office from a colleague who bought his for £50.

Is nothing happening with ashes buried on the pitch?

They are. I understand that they are being moved to the Hive for storage in case we can find a buyer.Hiveoccupier wrote:I thought they were TK's to dispose of.MCB wrote:Cannot believe that no-one is taking the floodlights or South Stand
