Akinde 'penalty'
Re: Akinde 'penalty'
I don’t actually think that’s a penalty
Re: Akinde 'penalty'
Do you think the keeper got the ball?PBBee wrote:I don’t actually think that’s a penalty

Re: Akinde 'penalty'
Akinde leads with his arm & puts it in the keeper’s face (not violently thought as this is how most people jump). I think if that was given against our keeper I’d be quite annoyed.
I was approx 10 metres behind it (although have watched the video numerous times now).

I agree about if it was the other way round then I would have been annoyed aswell.PBBee wrote:Akinde leads with his arm & puts it in the keeper’s face (not violently thought as this is how most people jump). I think if that was given against our keeper I’d be quite annoyed.

Re: Akinde 'penalty'
Given the ref’s behaviour on Saturday, if it had been the other way round it would have been a nailed on penalty!

Don't know why the previous message didn't display the tweet - that happens sometimes when I post from a mobile. But for those that didn't see it:
Edit: Does anyone see the actual video if you're looking at this from a mobile? Or do you have to be on a desktop?

I agree that he uses his arm to leverage his jump but I don't agree that he puts it in the keepers face. If anything the keeper jumps into it.PBBee wrote:Akinde leads with his arm & puts it in the keeper’s face (not violently thought as this is how most people jump). I actually agree with you, having watched that clip many times. The thing that sways it for me is that John, and crucially the 'keeper are both looking up at the ball. It seems to me that it was a 50-50 rather than something else.PBBee wrote:Akinde leads with his arm & puts it in the keeper’s face (not violently thought as this is how most people jump). Re: Akinde 'penalty'
A 50/50 where one player wins the ball and the other doesn't is still a foul!!!!! Doesn't matter if the intention isn't there, if one of the players touches the ball and knocks it away it's a foul, simple.
Re: Akinde 'penalty'
Tutonda got booked for a similar type of challenge. Both players were looking at the ball. It seemed a clash of two bodies but the ref decided give a foul and book Tutonda. Whereas on Akindes one he played a drop ball. Twat.WinchyBee wrote:A 50/50 where one player wins the ball and the other doesn't is still a foul!!!!! Re: Akinde 'penalty'
No way is that a penalty.
I would be furious if that was given against us.
Both Akinde and goalkeeper have done nothing wrong.
The goalkeeper stood his ground and jumps. Which he’s entitled to do.
If I was forced to penalise somebody. I would of given the free kick to Stanley.
if Anything, Akinde impedes the goalkeeper( with his leading arm) more than vice versa.
A drop ball was the correct decision in my opinion.

Re: Akinde 'penalty'
Take the Drama out of the equation (last kick of the game, scoreline, league position) I don't think this will be discussed as much.
It's fairly 50/50, whatever way the decision went one side would feel hard-done by. Though Accy did seem to get both decisions go there way as I think their penalty was very weak
