Potential L2 next year - do we want in?!
Potential L2 next year - do we want in?!
For those who travel to away games predominantly...
Worst case scenario:
Promoted from L2 to L1: Luton, Lincoln, Swindon, Crawley
Relegated from L1 to L2: Rochdale, Bury, Oldham, Fleetwood
Relegated to Conference: Forest Green, Crewe
Promoted from Conference: Tranmere, AFC Flyde
Would this be the most northern league ever? Most miles away fans have to cover? Most uninspiring league ever?
Accrington
AFC Flyde
Barnet
Bury
Crawley
Coventry
Colchester
Crewe
Chesterfield
Cheltenham
Carlisle
Cambridge
Exeter
Fleetwood
Forest Green
Grimsby
Lincoln City
Mansfield
Morecambe
Notts County
Newport
Oldham
Port Vale
Rochdale
Stevenage
Tranmere
Yeovil

Does a wet January Tuesday evening in Fylde appeal to you Jerroll?

Not necessarily that uninspiring. We've never played Tranmere, Oldham and Fylde before. Fylde could encompass a weekend in Blackpool and Tranmere a weekend in Liverpool.

yes as it would be a new ground for me!MCB wrote:jerroll wrote:its Fylde not Flyde!!!

I won't list the potential National League / Conference teams next year - but incredible the difference in potential South vs North.
Time to split League 2 into Northern & Southern division?!

No, I'm always against that. To me it's much more attractive to play a team such as Hartlepool than a small southern team.MCB wrote:I won't list the potential National League / Conference teams next year - but incredible the difference in potential South vs North.

Re: Potential L2 next year - do we want in?!
replace 3 of the northern teams from lg1 with Franchise, their cousins & Northampton and promote Aldershot & Sutton or Wood and relegate Morecambe & Grimsby it looks very southern again!
Re: Potential L2 next year - do we want in?!
Quite a few L2 clubs are uninspiring and even more so if we get 4 more northern clubs. Although whilst Fleetwood is a complete dive it's handy for a weekend in the Lake District. As would be Fylde.
Lots of local matches in National League, several of whom would be new grounds for me whereas apart from Coventry I've been to all the current L2 grounds.

The most Northern bottom division ever was in our first season in the League. Gillingham, Northampton and Maidstone were the only Southern teams, Crewe, Walsall and Mansfield, from the Midlands, Wrexham and Cardiff were from Wales, Hereford were almost in Wales and then it was Doncaster, Chesterfield, Lincoln, Rotherham, Scarborough, Halifax, York, Burnley, Rochdale, Blackpool and Carlisle.

1 good thing with your teams MCB is at least we would have 3 new ground to go visit in AFC Fylde, Tranmere and Oldham.

you forgot Aldershot were in the division until March!barnetjohn wrote:The most Northern bottom division ever was in our first season in the League. Ah no. Since they went bust their games were expunged from all official records that season. So technically they weren't in the league for official purposes!

Did i get my money back for the 3 games against them that season - games took place!barnetjohn wrote:Ah no. Since they went bust their games were expunged from all official records that season. So technically they weren't in the league for official purposes!

When the Aldershot results were taken off we lost 6 points and a 6-0 goal difference (5-0 and 1-0)! Also that season we beat Aldershot 3-0 in the Auto Glass Trophy. Plus the reserves beat them 4-1 in the Capital League and 10-1 (!) In the Capital League cup.jerroll wrote:Did i get my money back for the 3 games against them that season - games took place!barnetjohn wrote:Ah no. We could do with some results like that in the remainder of this season !
