It is the hope that kills you.
And there is no hope.
Along with heart, spirit or effort.

And yet so predictable in November, if not earlier, didn't take a genius to work out we would struggle this season, after the injuries..SudburyBee wrote:So sad

Same old story miss a great chance in the first half and then go 1-0 down end of game. How many games has that been?. On a plus note I thought Sweeney was class today, he’ll be a big asset in the National League. Shaq was dreadful how many bloody touches does he need to the ball, replaced by defender, oh dear!!.

Re: Wycombe (Hive) The Broken Chair Match Thread
There was nothing at all in it in the first half and we competed very well, much better than Tuesday night. Of course the one gilt-edged chance crashed against the crossbar and you start to see the writing on the wall. Then a soft penalty (poor challenge from Watson) and what looked like an own goal from a set piece from a free kick unnecessarily given away (such a familiar story).
Wycombe are such a well-drilled outfit - not an attractive side to watch by any means, but very efficient. Once we'd gone behind there never looked to be a way back. You couldn't fault many of the players today - the commitment was certainly there, even if the quality wasn't in certain areas. I hate to single out Watson because he has improved but still, for me, he's not good enough. But then we always knew central midfield was our main weakness, and yet it was never addressed. As has been mentioned, Sweeney was again outstanding.
Obviously we now have to resign ourselves to the drop, but I struggle to understand the 'Westley out' chants, as I don't think there's much more the guy can do with the players at his disposal. At least he shows a bit of passion and commitment from the touchline, which is more than could be said for his 2 predecessors.

The Westley chants are ridiculous, it totally pisses me off when I hear that crap.

I honestly think Westley should see us out to the bitter end

Next manager please
Re: Wycombe (Hive) The Broken Chair Match Thread
My Westley pros
Talks some sense in interviews
A committed and driven character
Has turned a generally hopeless side into a semi competitive side during his tenure
Oversee a more than respectable 3 seasons of success at Stevenage; should therefore have as a good chance as any of producing a successful side next season
Westley cons
Extremely questionable substitutions
For one reason or another didn't use the transfer window effectively
Looks highly unlikely to get anything like the number of points we knew we would need
The stats suggest he did pants in his last job despite his claims to the contrary

The thing you miss is the lack of pattern to our play. What's our identity? How do we look to create opportunities? There seems to be no direction to our play, no plan of attack, and that to me is a big minus point against the manager.

Can anyone give a plausible explanation for the final substitution today ? In the circumstances it seemed an unbelievable thing to do.

Unlikely. His subs are more bizarre as each game passes.Hiveoccupier wrote:Can anyone give a plausible explanation for the final substitution today ? In the circumstances it seemed an unbelievable thing to do.
