It's really sad when football gets to this.

Dermot Drummy Rest In Peace

Post: # 243654Post John Hunt »

This really hit me when i found out about it a few months ago.

I used to go and watch Hendon as a kid with my Dad. Drummy was a legend at that club.

I am sure that there is a lot of stress in football and other sports. I often feel that managers, players, referees and club officials are particularly vulnerable to abuse from supporters and am surprised we don't hear about such tragic circumstances more often.

Knowing of this case was part of the reason i reacted so strongly against the abuse Rossi was receiving earlier in the season.

We are all upset by our current league position and apportion blame where we see fit as to why we are in that position. It does upset me but only for a while.

Football is only a game. Life is too short.

Rest In Peace Dermot Drummy - a great football man.

well said john
have read in wisden how these problems are even worse in cricket, like johnny bairstow's dad and Marcus trescothick
cricketers have long periods of solitude, even during games.
Marcus still plays for somerset, but it was a long journey
