Not really. Players prefer not to sign for a team on a seemingly downward trajectory. F
We weren’t doing well at the time when Devine signed for us although he helped us do much better that season!
Didn’t Still and Devine fall out when he didn’t get his big money move. Ended up going to Wycombe after injuries.

I was young at the time so could be wrong.

Still did have some flare players in his time, Currie been the best of the lot. Currie and Stockley down the right wind was enjoyable to watch when we stood at the top end of the East Terrave. Ahhh memories.

Did Still sign Marlon King?

The Aldershot game proved that Still can produce a side that is able to create chances. Sooner rather than later the first win will come, and it just takes a good run of results and we will be right in the top end of the table.

He will be given the time he needs to get things right in order to build a promotion push. It does however look as though we are already too far behind to challenge for the title, but we never know what can happen with a bit of luck on our side. At least we have John Still in charge and not Rubbish (incompetent) Rossi any more.

Our defence is probably the most able part of the team and it conceded 3 goals to an average team. The midfield of adams fonguck and sparkes has to be the worst batch ever. Then you have the goal scoring machines of elito harrison and mason clarke. This team will hardly win a game this season and will never be above mid table unless there is a miracle. We need strong loan players urgently before we get too far adrift. Surely TK can see this or maybe he is not that bothered.

Would you send your kids on loan to us?

Relegation battle and appalling style of football. They will learn nothing and come back damaged goods!

Adher36, I appreciate your compassion and loyalty to our manager John Still, but are you really being serious about being at the top end of the table? There are 46 games in this season and we have already played 5 (soon to be 6) without a win. So we are about 12% through the league season and have achieved 2 points and scored 2 goals. If we continue at the current rate, at the end of the season we will have amassed a total of around 16 points! If we manage to achieve points at three times the rate we currently do (i.e. 6 points from every 5 games) then we will have amassed a total of 50 points (if you include the 2 we already have) and will be relegated!
The one thing we just cannot afford to do is to fall into the same complacent trap we went headlong into last season and assume that time is on our side and that we will somehow make up the points and surge ahead well clear of relegation! We didn't. We waited and waited and got further and further adrift until we had to be the best team in the league to have any chance of catching the teams above us and we all know how that went!
By contrast Forest Green who we were certain were going to go down after their poor start brought in lots of new decent players and ended up well clear of relegation, while we carried on waiting or brought in a couple of more donkeys! Have a look at League 2 now and see where Forest Green are! Enough said!

We need some strong seasoned pros who can do a job. Look at the next four games and the likely points won is around 1.

Marlon King was a Still signing and probably a Dafforn find. You’re right about Sean Devine. He spent most of 98/99 not being selected by Still, Wycombe bought him off us for £220k and scored a few goals that kept them up in Division 2!

JS interview with the National League hacks says it all. He believes that we were the better team for an hour and Ebbsfleet didn’t look like scoring. I kid you not. http://www.thenationalleague.org.uk/bee ... y-at-52443
The man was a lousy manager last time around with boring football but now he’s also deluded. I can’t imagine how he won promotion with other teams.

He wasn't a lousy manager last time around, he took us to 2 play offs in 3 seasons, arguably our second best spell ever. But the signs this time are that it's not working, and as others say, more worryingly he doesn't seem to see it.

Still's interview seems quite honest: "If you concede goals and don't score goals, you lose matches." He - and more importantly his players - now need to make sure they don't concede goals and start scoring them.

That's so unfair when a team that doesn't look like scoring then scores three goals. It must be unsportsman like conduct. I guess Huddersfield fans felt the same at the weekend when Man City tricked them by not scoring for the first 25 minutes and then go on to knock in 6.

I despair.

Stockley wasn't signed by still but by Mullery.
Chalery and Greg heald was signed by JS

Sean divine and Lee Harrison hated JS with passion.
Lee Harrison said he hated the long hoof style and hated being forced to kick the ball into touch at the half way line when JS would make all the players all go to either the near side or off side of the half way line.
Lee told me to tell the supporters that it was JS idea not to kick the ball straight up the middle.

JS was given a massive £400k war chest and we got nothing back
Ray Clemence spent £37k and returned us over 2 million.

It looks like Still will hold on until at least the end of the Dagenham game. Seriously, what's the point? He's shown nothing to suggest he can turn things round - let's stop throwing points away and appoint a new manager now.

We played half decent effective football when we went top the league turn of the millennium. After that it was hoof ball to the extreme. Relegated the following season. 400k weren’t a lot of money back then pre ITV sports collapse (which we missed thanks to cottee).

Seem to remember sides were spending 400k on one player back in those days. Ron Nodes Brentford for example.
