It must be the most frustrating thing in the world for a manager coach who meticulously spends the week coaching and setting up his team, only for his players' brains to go to blancmange the moment they get on the pitch. You can't wet nurse them all the time, even though many need it. You wouldn't get away with not carrying out orders in any other walk of life.

We have the answer in front of us. Each player in the squad and academy has to be put through Canon's magic scanning machine.

Any player without a heart and a brain should be rejected and dispatched to Eastleigh, Borehamwood or Hemel Hempstead.
