I remember he joined us in March and was tremendous, helped save us from relegation. New season, first match he blundered to cost us a 0-1 home defeat. He was poor for the rest of the season. I can't recall any player going downhill so much over a close season.First Half Only wrote:Paul Warhurst

Not a top footballer, but Bradley Walsh made a few appearances for us in the late 1970’s whilst on loan from Brentford. His new job as a doctor’s assistant may come in handy in our treatment room. Maybe he could borrow a sonic screwdriver and perform a few miracles.

Gary Breen showed his class, as did of course ED.
At the opposite end i'd have to put Eddie Newton.

To be fair no other players have made such an impact on the club that they have a room named after them at the Hive.hoofer2 wrote:Steve Kabba

Breen and Furlong have already been said, but these two showed their class.

Gerry Ward was the best ex professional to join us.
True Gent and completely different class at our level in the mid 60's. Every player from that era will tell you.

That honour subsequently went to Curtis Weston.pgbee wrote:Youngest player at the time to appear in the Cup Final I believe...amberforever wrote:Agreed remember him well. I recall he was ex Arsenal?

Not sure about that. Arsenal didn't play in any cup finals between 1952 and 1972 and Gerry Ward played for Arsenal early 60s if my memory serves me correct.pgbee wrote:Youngest player at the time to appear in the Cup Final I believe...amberforever wrote:Agreed remember him well. Gerry Ward was the youngest player to play for Aresenal, 16, I believe.
