thirty years

Post: # 285571Post alexbach »

Will meet Gillian Powell, when she returns for a funeral
"Gill ", I shall say, why did you not warn me?"
in 1989, stayed with her in Ealing, and she sent me on my way to crazy school in Burnt Oak
As the interview was successful, pitched up up at Underhill a few months later to see an even nuttier football team
Joined the BFCSA, started writing in their newsletter, which in turn led to a column in the programme, where I took over from Mr Phil Snow
Mostly enjoyed that job til yesterday
Observing a heated discussion between two Barnet fans, observed one of my pet hates , which is when people brag of having attended every game
unwisely mentioned a few such people for which I apologize
One regular, loud terrace contributor, once declared , with no irony, that people should get jobs, which made attendance possible each Saturday
Pointed out that my own attendance recently is sporadic due to illness, im actually disabled
Was ridiculed for that- a new low even on this board
Recently i praised the Guru, who questioned the level of toxicity
Same guy patronised Guru
W e now live in aworld where sheep jobs are permissable- The managers get vitriol, as does the chairman
Tony K can be difficult, but he doesnt deserve that
so you wont be reading this , Gill, but ill buy you a drink cariad, for a cwtch in return. Your cousin was a one-off
probably ill keep writing but need to take a break from Only BARNET

I did not mock your illness.

Having a stroke is no laughing matter and having had a friend who experienced the same I would never dream of doing so.

I recognise that you are disabled and this combined with your relocation means you do not get to games any more but I was never criticising or mocking you for this just suggesting it was not just your health which prevented you going to games something I am sure you would agree with

I find it disappointing that having attacked me for the last few months you are now seeking to blame me for your decision to step away from the board and possibly the club.

I have deliberately held off responding in the past because I was aware of your situation and did not want to attack a disabled supporter despite the numerous provocations but the moment I had finally had enough and called you on it you post the above which I find grossly unjust.

This is low behaviour indeed and is an accusation I neither deserve nor appreciate.

I hope you will take the time away from the board to reflect and get some perspective.

Best wishes.

Why is Alex allowed to insult other users so regularly without being banned?
This is a serious question to the mods.
I know for a fact others have been permanently banned for less.
There is a big difference between disagreeing vigorously and calling people out for posting comments but out and out insults are not allowed on this site.
Why does Alex get an easy ride?

The great joy of this board (apart from being the most active of any club this size) is that fortunately it by and large doesn't need to be moderated except for removing spam....

The only times I saw a poster being banned was for a) spam b) libel c) outright racism which was fiercely denied despite being in writing..

Wish people wouldn't assume that everything gets read and moderated and start the whole 'picked on' bull. If anyone has an issue with anything click on the '!' exclamation post on the top right of the post and it then gets picked up. Otherwise it will probably get missed. Stop with the assuming as no action has been taken it's tacit approval, it's bollocks.

Mikel deserves credit for keeping this going ad free and free for 8 years with minimal support so you can all whinge away freely whilst taking flak from the club, players and mainly, the fans. Take responsibility if something is not right. If you think there is bullying etc, call it out and report the post. Fundamentally most Barnet won't take others being pricks to each other, but won't always pick up on it if it's 'targetted'.

Ah yes - that was fair - think it was a 'what does it take to get banned from here' type thing!

An ex-player has also been banned for borderline libellous abuse of an ex-manager...that was fun!

Absolutely. This place is at its best when everybody feels they can put forward differing points of view and posters views are respected.

For most of this board's history, the number of bans made has been minimal. Over the last week however, I've had to remove more posts than I can remember. Personal abuse, snide remarks, libellous claims and outright lies are not welcome on this site and will be removed. Please can people take a second to think before they post and if something doesn't look right, as MCB says, please don't hesitate in using the report button next to every post.

Most of us here will remember what the club's old forum turned in to. Let's not go back there.

Will an exception be made for when Masuka finally carries out his promise/threat of a naked run?
