Shaq, Duku, Harrogate

Post: # 286304Post Guiseleybee »

Where’s Shaq? We could really do with him right now.

What about trying to get Duku on loan from Torquay? Scored 3 in 6 for us last season.

Watching the FA Cup game last night and wish we would set up more like Harrogate. They have a decent tempo to their game, they try and play decent football but crucially, they have a good option to play more direct too. None of this pointless possession football though. Beck isn’t a world beater but he is effective and then has options around him to link up play.

Why oh why can’t we play like them? 4-4-2 nice and simple, a threat upfront, bite in midfield, a team where everyone knows their jobs.

Then you hear their chairman and they’re a club with ambitions with everyone pulling in the same direction.

It’s appalling we’ve been over taken by clubs like this on every level.

Take note TK and DC.

Shaq has a long term injury. DC has said he can't put a time scale on his return, his injury requires rest.
Duku has signed a permanent contract with Torquay and has made 13 NL appearances for them this season. Why would they send him out on loan to anybody?
Yes we do need to change our style of play but why Harrogate? For much of the Harrogate v Barnet match last month, we were the better side and were desperately unlucky not to get at least a point.

Because their brand of football is far more entertaining then our training match method. What we all want is 11 players, blood and thunder for 90 mins. Not 11 academy trained boys wanting to play tiki taka football with no threat and no will to get stuck in.

I'm pretty sure that Chorley play in a blood and thunder style and get stuck in. Much good it has done them. The best teams are those that play in a mixture of styles and are adaptable.

Shaq is due back on the grass Friday.

Currie has released Bettamer and Barham and refuses to pick Akinola so some of his striker issues are of his own making....

That's brilliant news about Shaq. Hopefully he'll be back in a couple of weeks and we can turn what have seemed like a lot of draws into wins and we get into the play-offs.
