Ex-Bees (2014 update)
Re: Ex-Bees (2014 update)
Perhaps the only time time you'll ever see the words 'Enfield' 'Ashley Carew' 'Claudio Vilco' and 'Sexy Football' in the same match report.

Surprising that Gower has dropped down to the Conference South so soon. He was playing in the Premiership two and a half years ago!Moonchild_Bee wrote:Mark Gower joins............... Ebbsfleet

Perhaps it's one final pay day before retirement.
Re: Ex-Bees (2014 update)
More like coming out of semi retirement - had been playing for Harold Wood in the Essex intermediate league (basically park football) since leaving Charlton last summer. He is 36 now.

Mensah back to Rainfree, hope he scores a few vital goals between now and the end of the season as they have to still play Rovers,Grimsby & the Milkmen.

I always liked Jordan Parkes and felt he got a tough time from supporters here. Good to see him having a good season, I expect to see him move back up the leagues.

Re: Ex-Bees (2014 update)
Parkes was a left back when he came to us and to be fair, a not very good one. Teams used to target him regularly. However he always had very good technique so the cleanliness of his striking doesn't surprise me. Sometimes a players needs to step down and find his game to get some momentum. Looks like he's reinvented himself as a midfielder now. Fair play to him. 23 goals by Feb from midfielder is very impressive.

It's not just a matter of Parkes having a good season as a one-off.
He scored 20+ goals last season too. Yeah he takes free-kicks and pens, but he still has to score them.
I have a feeling he is a fitness instructor/personal trainer or something similar.

Hydey came back from suspension to score and help York to a huge 3 points away to Cambridge tonight,

Cambridge's form doesn't look too clever...I wonder if they'll end up in the dogfight.

I think they'll do just enough to stay clear mainly because they have an experienced manager.Sam_BFC wrote:Cambridge's form doesn't look too clever...I wonder if they'll end up in the dogfight.
Re: Ex-Bees (2014 update)
Jordan Parkes was ridiculously underrated in his time with us. I distinctly recall an evening at Aldershot when the rest of the team & particularly the defence were playing terribly and when only Parkes showed any skill and determination whilst he tried to rally and organise the rest of the back four. I was sorry he was scapegoated and I'm delighted he is doing well now. Given some of the guileless and frankly inept performance of recent months I would happily have him back in our currently unsophisticated team.
