Kieron Cadogan has signed for Swedish club GAIS FC who play in Gothenberg. They are in the Swedish Championship, (Tier 2 which is called the Superatten), and seem to be one of the better teams in that division, (finished 7th last season I think).
Would be good to hear what any Scandinavian Bees know of GAIS, (because I had never heard of them).

This is not about the Swedish league, but I was just thinking about - There should be some good players in the Danish 1 Division (2nd best league in Denmark) that Barnet could use (and get for free).Jimbokav1971 wrote:Kieron Cadogan has signed for Swedish club GAIS FC who play in Gothenberg. Some of the teams in the Danish 1 Division are part-time, and actually this year a part-time team was surprisingly promoted to the Danish Superliga for the 1st time in I don't know how many years!! And now they are number 1 and yesterday they won 3-0 agains FC Copenhagen who have been in Champions League a couple of time the recent years.
And a guy named Mads Ibenfeldt from a part-time team in the 1st Division is just moved to Southend, so there must be some quality in that division. I'm so sad we don't have any scouts in Denmark.

Wow, was really surprised to see an ex-bee in Sweden, and in my home town!
GAIS is a historically quiet successful club, currently on 9th place in the all-time table. This season they were expecting to be a top team but it has all gone wrong. Cadogan is one of three last minute signings before the Swedish transfer window closed last night.
I will try to get to a game wearing a Barnet shirt and have a small chat. All the best of luck to Kieron and GAIS. The club is called The Mackerels and the supporters are mostly working class and known to be witty, relaxed and 110% supporting and loving their club. Very charming, so best of luck.
I attach a photo of Cadogan signing and of the all-time table.
In this link, there is an article I wrote 7 years ago at SvenskaFans.com about how I thought Swedish players should come to England and play in the lower leagues. As BeeFromDenmark says, most of these teams are part-time (although GAIS in this case is full time) and England must be a good option. I can be contact in Sweden, and no fee included TK!

Re: Ex-Bees (2014 update)
I see former Bees loanee Jordan Mustoe has signed for Accrington Stanley. Good signing for them, I would have thought. He looked to be a very promising left back, to my untrained eye.

Dillon Barnes on the bench for Fulham U21s today. Would be a great move for the lad if it comes off.

I thought he left to concentrate on modelling rather than football and was basically giving up hos football career. I'm sure that's what the OS said.buzzzzinbee wrote:Dillon Barnes on the bench for Fulham U21s today. Would be a great move for the lad if it comes off.

Danny Kelly, who played briefly for Barnet in the 2010-11 season, is now back at Cambridge City after a period playing in Australia -

- and scored a 30-yard 'goal of the season' contender which earned his team an undeserved win against Chesham on Wednesday night. The bastard.
