Rossi Jarvis has pitched up at Dereham Town, and scored on debut last Saturday.

Another player who seemed, on paper, to be a decent signing when he arrived at Barnet - but sadly proved to be otherwise. However, like many others, he never played under settled management.southstander wrote:Rossi Jarvis has pitched up at Dereham Town, and scored on debut last Saturday.

Don't imagine the Dubious Goals Panel covers NL matches! It's not 100% clear but I'd agree Stacky should be credited with it. Hope so anyway, according to his stats on Wiki he's never scored in over 300 appearances.MCB wrote:Suggest you check out Stacky's twitterbecbee wrote:BBC have given it to Ryan Cresswell, as has a fan on Eastleigh message board.MCB wrote:Stacky getting a 90+4 equaliser against Wrexham today, albeit hasn't officially been given to him. Losing 3-2 to Barrow Flitney comes up for a corner in the 8th minute of injury time.....
And hits the crossbar.
What a story that would have been.

Scott McGleish, now 44 years old, came off the bench to go between the sticks as emergency substitute GK when Chesham's goalkeeper got sent off with 35 minutes still to go this afternoon. He played an absolute blinder, making several brilliant scuffed saves as well as entertaining the crowd hugely. Chesham were 1-0 up at the time, and ran out 3-0 winners with ten men. Maybe he'll play the full match as goalkeeper in our County Senior Cup semi-final this Tuesday!

I have a vague recollection of McGleish going in goal for us years ago.
Anyone else remember that or have I made it up?

Presumably one of the few games in which he didn't score a hattrick!
Thanks btw.

Taking of Abbo, here is your Sunday morning Barnet FC goal scoring Reckless trivia. You might just need these absolutely useless facts one day.
Gary Abbott scored 11 goals in a calender month in September 1988
Les Eason scored 10 goals in March of 1970 as did Tony Harding in March of 1965
But............Nicky Evans scored 12 in September 1987 oh yeah as did Roger Figg in March 1964.

And he had a hattrick struck from the records when Newport, I think, went bust.Reckless wrote:Taking of Abbo, here is your Sunday morning Barnet FC goal scoring Reckless trivia. You might just need these absolutely useless facts one day.

I went to the 7-1 win at Newport and was struck by two things.
The noise the Newport fans made whenever their team tried to attack, it was a small crowd but boy could they roar.
And secondly, I was genuinely shit scared getting back to the car after the game.
They were not a friendly bunch.

Here is a snippet from my piece on that 1988-89 season on my blog (plug plug)
The visit to County was somewhat spoiled by the unacceptable racist chanting aimed at Herbie Smith and Edwin Stein and the fact that the Bees fans were charged £3.00 (nearly double the home admission fee) to watch the game from a cage on a muddy slope. It was a pleasure however to witness a second half four man forward line of Smith, Abbott, Nicky Evans and Murphy - very reasonable.

Anthony Acheampong came on as a stoppage-time substitute for Dulwich Hamlet this evening, and scored the winner against Leatherhead.
