Chester (a) 9th August The Long Awaited Match Thread
For those of you who accuse me of not putting match threads up in advance please take note!
The main reason I have put this up is that there are engineering works taking place on the line between Euston and Watford Junction that day, so any hardy travellers wishing to go by train will need to go via Marylebone, Birmingham and Crewe to get to Chester, followed by a 45 minute walk to the ground.
Think I will do this one by supporters coach, as long as there is one still running.....

Re: Chester (a) 9th August The Long Awaited Match Thread
I am doing this one by the Steve Percy minibus. I would probably have done this one by minibus anyway, but the lack of information around that club's official transport has helped somewhat. It looks like the Barnet team is starting to come together nicely, there are still one or two question areas, in particular in midfield, but the team is starting to look pretty solid. This is the lineup I would go with for the first game:-
---------------------Stack-------------------
--Yiadom----Stephens---N'Gala---Saville
--KMB-----Weston-----Mahon----Luisma--
------------Akinde----McDonald-------------
This would leave us a bit short on pace on the left hand side (to put it mildly) but it does at least give us a solid look, and the flexibility to push KMB further forward if need be. Hopefully MA is still in the market for a central midfielder, and possibly a winger if KMB goes, but otherwise things look pretty rosy.

MA did say he wants to try 3 at the back against Wycombe. It's a good option to have and I think Yids and Mauro would be great wingbacks

The only team I've ever seen play 3-5-2 consistently was Martin O'Neill's Celtic side which went to the UEFA Cup final - over the course of a season your wing backs will cover some serious mileage, so if this is his plan I hope he has indeed been putting them through their paces in pre-season.tpBEE wrote:MA did say he wants to try 3 at the back against Wycombe. We made the playoffs in 97/8 & 99/00 playing with 3 centrebacks, that showed consistency over a long period!

I'm not sure which second leg was more painful!jerroll wrote:We made the playoffs in 97/8 & 99/00 playing with 3 centrebacks, that showed consistency over a long period!

Clearly Colchester, at least at peterborough we just didn't bother!South_Belfast_Bee wrote:I'm not sure which second leg was more painful!jerroll wrote:We made the playoffs in 97/8 & 99/00 playing with 3 centrebacks, that showed consistency over a long period!
