Underhill Film

Postby magiovinium_bee » 24 Oct 2014, 15:01

Apparently Callum Chambers has tweeted that that he recently saw a screening of the Underhill film and really enjoyed it. Anyone got any ideas where/how he would have seen it ?

Apparently it's a legal obstacle course to get the various permissions for it to be screened publicly but I do know the maker is trying everything he can to get in a position to release it.

I fancied watching it on Christmas Day! I am sure it would have made a nice present for all Bees fans. Legal bureaucracy is pathetic.

Why can't the club show the film again?

At only 40mins - seems a lot was left on the cutting room floor. Maybe they can stick more in for the DVD when it comes.

Does seem strange that the club hasn't tried to show this at special sittings in the Hive bar. All ticket affair 200 seats @ £5 should sell quite well

"@tonguetweets: Loved today's screening of @simon_emmitt film Underhill on @BarnetFC. Hopefully coming to a screen near you soon. It's special. V special."

"@lynnejackaman: @tonguetweets @BarnetFC It was brilliant! Made me laugh and cry.

"@simonday24: Just seen the excellent 'underhill' moving, hilarious film about Barnet FC's lost football ground and still thriving club"

Oh, hurry up and just show it! If it's made them cry, imagine what it will do to Barnet fans.

Does anyone know of the specific 'legal' issues preventing the release of this film? It's even worse being 'teased' about it being so good! Maybe we can all get to see at Cannes!

I do not agree. I think TK sees Underhill as past history, and wants to focus 100% on the Hive project and beyond. Yes it could provide a good
earner for the club but I expect he wants to concentrate on future glories now. The viewing of the film must be a fan based initiative.
In the past BFC SA end of season awards would have been the perfect event, perhaps this could be one for the Trust to progress, even
if it means utilising the Hive facilities.

If TK is looking to the future why is he doing nothing to attract locals to the Hive instead of relying on the remains of the Underhill faithful?

Agreed. A theory I have is that this is deliberate. Keep as low a profile as possible so as not to swing local community for or against the club until
all the planning inquiry / permissions have been finalised once and for all. Once we have the retrospective planning permission for the West Stand
and the floodlights, then start to infiltrate the locals!
