Macclesfield (hive) The Hit The Road Macc Thread
Here's hoping we can get the promotion push back on track after the last minute heartbreak down in the Wet Country. The added incentive of possibly not having to sit in Bristol traffic for 90 minutes should be all the motivation needed to get us pushing forward again.
In terms of the team lineup, unless Stack is back from injury, and presuming the Johnson withdrawal was tactical rather than injury, then I would suggest going for our usual lineup, and hoping that MacDonald can somehow find his pre-injury form. I did toy with the idea of Vilhete on the wing, and Luisma behind Akinde, but I think we look better with two up front.
-------------------------Rafa------------------------
--Yiadom-----N'Gala----Stephens--Johnson--
--Luisma----Togwell----Weston----Cook-------
---------------Akinde----MacDonald--------------
Subs: Gambin, Saville, Hunt, Mensah, Vilhete
Looking forward to this one, feeling cautiously optomistic as we will be fielding a much stronger team than we did up at Macc.

Mmmm indeed. From the way the Silkmen are talking, we will have the opportunity to dictate the tempo on Saturday, and this is usually where we do well.
Re: Macclesfield (hive) The Hit The Road Macc Thread
Martin says all fit. Including Stack? Nice message on main site anyway.
Re: Macclesfield (hive) The Hit The Road Macc Thread
Hope Cook and MacDonald can find the net again tomorrow, seems only Luisma and Akinde are the goal threats right now so could do with the responsibility being shared around then the results will pick up again
Re: Macclesfield (hive) The Hit The Road Macc Thread
The more I think about Tuesdays game the more I realise how big a miss Stack was. Rovers main form of attack in the first 20 minutes was balls over the top and behind the full backs for their pacey wingers to run onto. Our normal style of play is to push high with stack acting as a sweeper. I think the defence played their normal game and because Rafa stayed in his area we were exposed. This eventually led to the whole team sitting deeper to nullify the threat and so we didn't get forward as much as we would normally.
I'm not blaming a new keeper who was apparently collected from a service station on the way for not fitting into our system but if he does play we will need to either be more defensive minded or he will need to be more prepared to come out of his area in addition to improving his kicking from the floor. So I'm hoping Stack is fit tomorrow and we can go back to our normal game which involves Cook, Macdonald and Luisma causing mayhem whilst the opposition struggle to cope with Akinde.

I think Stack is a very good 'sweeper keeper' and decent distribution wise. His weakness is crosses but there's never going to be a keeper at this level that ticks all of the boxes! The Moose from Talksport is wishing him well on Twitter for tomorrow in making his 100th appearance.

A good and fair post Barnetsteve.....yes I hope Stackie makes it back tomorrow, not wanting to detract from Rafa's potential.
Am bringing 2 extra supporters along tomorrow, should be a good one.

Just been given a last minute opportunity to make the game, but via Edgware for the 1st time. Can anyone advise the buses from there to the ground please?
