John Motson is retiring completely from the BBC. Wonder if we will see him at The Hive from time to time?

Saw him numerous times at Underhill but can't recall seeing him at the Hive.

As per Jerroll, he is often at the Hive. Keep an eye out behind the dugouts, his sheepskin coat can often be spotted.

Top bloke. I got to know him via the KBA stuff. He supported that and put his name to it. What is really weird is when you ring his home phone and hear his voice on the answer machine! - it's surreal.

If anyone from the club is reading this.... in his retirement some kind of honorary role at the club would seem an obvious thing to offer!

Thirded. Would boost the club's profile, and be well deserved.

I've spied Motty and his coat at the Hive on several occasions.

Hon Life Member or Hon Vice President would work, he wouldn't have to do or pay anything but would be a good recognition of where he started out and he has clearly always remembered that.

I'm sure Gary Phillips was made Honoury LIfe President - but not sure what it entitles you to - or where these things are recorded.

Should get Motty in to do the radio coverage of one of games?

They used to be recorded in the match day programme (inside front cover , admittedly a dull page)and most clubs have an honours board(s) which I'm sure we used to at Underhill under the main stand, which should have been saved to our 'temporary' home. I'm sure more enlightened fans (Reckless?) would know about these things...

There is a trophy cabinet, which I think was donated by or on behalf of Graham Slyper as part of his retirement, which was moved from Underhill to the Hive. There was an honours board upstairs in the Durham Suite, not sure if that is at the Hive anywhere, never seen it. A question someone can ask TK!

Agree Motty should be honoured in some way.

Motty's best ever line imo was when England beat Germany 5-1 over there and he exclaimed it was England's best result over them since the 2nd world war.

So what are the best pieces of Motty commentary where he's sneaked in a Barnet mention?
