Cambridge (Hive) The Shaqademical Match Thread

Post: # 223352Post Bee_Forever »

So.... Saturday sees the bees take on Cambridge in league hoof (c. Jerroll) after a scintillating display against Swindon Green Rovers.

After Akinola failed to escape through the same late window through which Tarpey entered, our attacking options look pretty decent with Tarpey providing cover for Akinde and Coulthirst showing a real eye for goal.

In terms of team lineups, the same lineup which ripped Swindon apart deserves another go so:-

----------------------Ross/Stephens----------------------

---------Santos--------Clough--------Nelson-------------

--H. Taylor-----Vilhete-----J. Taylor-----Tutonda-----

---------------------Campbell-Ryce-------------------------

--------------Coulthirst-------Tarpey------------------------

Subs: Ross/RML, Smith, Day, Bover, Fonguck, Akpa-Akpro, Akinotgone

Looking forward to this one, hope we put in another good display.

Hope so, and the rumblings coming out from the Swindon game were that he was alright. If not then Darnell Smith will be an able deputy.

Currently we have:-

Jamie Stephens
Richard Brindley
Elliot Johnson
Ricardo Santos
Curtis Weston
John Akinde

All either a doubt or out of contention for Saturday and all would walk in to our starting XI.

It would be nice if the club could provide something by way of an injury update to the loyal supporters who follow the club up and down the country.

they won't because its all a secret so the opposition don't know what is going on!!

Do you think a tactic like that really works?
I wonder how much research each club actually does on opposition? - I suppose they get a video of the last few games to analyse, but do scouts still go to games to watch now they can get highlights online?

no but that's the excuse we have been given in the past as to why we rarely get injury info from the club.

Looking forward to this one. We really are in need of a sound performance and goal fest at the Hive to bring the punters back in and put bums on seats. When was the last time we done that? Coyb

I don't hold with the secrecy. Cambridge will probably watch the video of us v Swindon which will include Santos regardless. They will be aware from the video that maybe he won't be fit. They will study a video showing Clough - because even if Santos and Nelson are both fit, Clough could appear as sub regardless. Or instead of either Santos / Nelson, whether or not they are both fit. They won't study a video of Smith because there probably isn't one.

Therefore allowing Cambridge to know before Saturday afternoon whether Santos is fit to play or not won't really make much difference to their preparation anyway and would be nice for us fans to know either way. Plus would they change their forward line and tactics because of who we have playing in defence? Unlikely.

But that's just my opinion as a membership paying fan.

The only time secrecy paid off was when Jude Stirling was ruled out for weeks, and then miraculously recovered to face Burton away.
Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

The only players Rossi mentions in the interview when asked about injuries are: Brindley, Johnson, Curtis, Stephens.

Nothing about Santos or Akinde (which I find very strange).
