Throwing out names
Re: Throwing out names
Anyone know much about Neil Smith at Bromley? I remember him as a player, as a hard-man enforcer-type in midfield for Woking against us.
Bromley seem to have done very well in the last 2 or three years, while he's been in charge, and are firmly in the race for the play-offs this season. I don't know how well-resourced they are, or anything about them really other than their healthy-looking league position. I'm just thinking about clubs which might be small enough for us to be able to tempt their manager away, should we want them.

If we are to take a gamble on an untried Manager how about Graham Stack? With Michael Nelson as his assistant.

I would be happy with him, he would get us up the table and get us pushing for the play offs next season.nicesirmick1 wrote:what about a name your price offer to.....gulp......Steve Evans.
Re: Throwing out names
Shame no-one has told the bookies yet that we're actually looking. Can't see odds for a new manager on any site.

Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

We aren't getting a Manager, we are getting a 'Head Coach'.

Re: Throwing out names
You mean we could end up with the Christian Gross type...
Or maybe the legend that is Stephen Constantine!

Wouldn't be surprised if we were looking in Scotland tbh.barnetpete wrote:We did, Scotland, and look how that turned outNorfolkbee wrote:Perhaps they are looking beyond these shores.barnetpete wrote:We aren't getting a Manager, we are getting a 'Head Coach'.
Re: Throwing out names
Give it to Scott McGleish, don't care if he wants it, would be interesting to watch a 45 yr old head coach somersaulting down the touchline after each goal. Admittedly he'd only need to do it 2 or 3 times between now and May, but it'd be the best entertainment all season.Norfolkbee wrote:Wouldn't be surprised if we were looking in Scotland tbh.barnetpete wrote:We did, Scotland, and look how that turned outNorfolkbee wrote:Perhaps they are looking beyond these shores.barnetpete wrote:We aren't getting a Manager, we are getting a 'Head Coach'.
Re: Throwing out names
This is probably a suggestion which no-one has thought of. What about Mark Sampson? The former England Ladies coach. He worked under Roberto Martinez at Wigan prior to taking the role, so has some experience in the men's game too. Clearly he will be looking to rebuild his reputation somewhat after the events of last year, but from what I saw of his teams when they played, there was a real sense of togetherness and a will to win.

The though crossed my mind as well. Not sure if we need the baggage he brings with him though.ninestein wrote:This is probably a suggestion which no-one has thought of. What about Mark Sampson?
