Mansfield (Away) The Managerial Popularity Contest Thread
So..... Saturday sees the bees enter the Sherwood triangle as we visit the three sided ground at Mansfield.
With neither manager winning any popularity contests with fans outside of their club (and ours losing some with his own club's supporters ) this promises to be an intriguing battle between two managers famed for their *ahem* professional approach to game management.
After arresting a 5 game losing streak with a couple of gutsy draws a trip to promotion chasing Mansfield will be another stern test for Westley's warriors and the hope is that reinforcements will give us the strength to battle to our first away win for 2 months and it is hoped, closer to league 2 survival.
Based on the current players I would go:-
------------------------Ross--------------------------------
--Brindley------Santos-----Sweeney-----Tutonda-----
--Vilhete----Watson---Weston---J. Taylor--Akinola--
----------------------Akinde---------------------------------
Subs: KML, Clough, Payne, Nicholls, Fonguck, Coulthirst, JCR
Doing this one by Percy Bus. Hoping for a hard scrabbled 3 points for Westley and his Merry Menn.

I think we should just go for it and catch them off guard. If we're going down let's do it fighting. Draws at this stage are no use.

Re: Mansfield (Away) The Managerial Popularity Contest Threa
You have to assume the new signings have been bought into start, given we have enough squad players, in which case our strongest first XI is currently:
------------------Legg--------------------
------------Santos--Plavotic------------
Brindley------------------------Tutonda
------------------Sule---------------------
---------Taylor--------Weston----------
----------------Nicholson----------------
------Akinde--------------Coulthirst----
It's a little narrow, but then we knew that was coming. Sule could still be injured / not in GW's plans. And we know he likes Sweeney and Watson so they could figure.
I've been largely positive until now, I'm wavering a little given the uncertainty over some of the players we have bought in, hopefully they will improve the team so I'm looking forward to seeing them.
Possible uncontracted players aside, we are what we are. A lot will depends on what GW does now. Fingers crossed, we are still in with a shout, but we are going to need to get some wins against the top sides to stay in touch or catch the teams above in the next few weeks, here's hoping that starts on Saturday. COYB!
