Only other professional team in London is the London Lions, so could be a decent little rivalry - bees vs lions!hoofer2 wrote:London Bees.....?MCB wrote:Basketball court with lots of seats in the plans.
We planning on picking up a basketball franchise?!

Re: Stadium Expansion
I heard on the radio the other day that a number of football clubs are looking at netball franchises, maybe we have an idea of netball rather than basketball?!

This fits Pete, I'm sure TK said a few years back that he would like to try to get the Hive to be the national Centre for netball in the UK. Perhaps John Still's past preference for the aerial route would fit well with the brief !barnetpete wrote:I heard on the radio the other day that a number of football clubs are looking at netball franchises, maybe we have an idea of netball rather than basketball?!

not exactly a positive or enthauisatic artile at all.
It calls it controversial - when there is seemingly little opposition - and only the opposition of ill informed councillors.
Either way, it's passed - so that's the main thing + their views irrelevant.

Good news. Look forward to hearing this announced formally by the club, and what it means for us at Barnet FC.
This is a great opportunity for the club to give the fans a bit of feelgood factor.
With that, maybe a few personnel announcements to come in the next week or so, and we can look forward to the season ahead with a great deal of optimism.

Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

Re: Stadium Expansion
A new capacity of 8500?
This is getting ridiculous.
I so hope we have a good season !!

We've met Stephen Greek before, he was the man who put an unlawful enforcement notice on the floodlights and cost the council a lot of money. It was never going to be a surprise that Blackman and his tory cronies would object. Their connections to certain Barnet tories guarantee it.barnet_pls wrote:not exactly a positive or enthauisatic artile at all.

Re: Stadium Expansion
I would genuinely love to see a London Bees team at The HIve. Basketball is growing as a sport all the time. I'd actually go watch it (I've seen London Lions a few times)

Re: Stadium Expansion
I wonder when they will start this?
Re: Stadium Expansion
Nigeria World Cup squad training at The Hive today ahead of their game with England saturday.
That'll really piss the BTID crowd off.

Re: Stadium Expansion
How will the capacity go to 8500? West stand is 2800, North and South 1900 each which roughly makes 6600. Can the East side accommodate 1900?

Re: Stadium Expansion
The east stand is to become a terrace, so it should easily accomodate 1900.beew wrote:How will the capacity go to 8500? West stand is 2800, North and South 1900 each which roughly makes 6600. Can the East side accommodate 1900?
