St Albans: Rhys Murrell-Williamson

Post: # 249685Post antbfc »

Saw in my local paper we are apparently in for this guy:

Think he's a winger. A non-league gem unearthed by Mr Still? Anyone seen him play?

Quote:

"Rhys Murrell-Williamson is one who has not yet re-signed and St Albans face competition from a former league club to keep him at Clarence Park.

Allinson said: “We’ve made him an offer and we would love him to stay but Barnet are interested and this may be his big chance to go professional.

“But it’s because of what he did with us last year that he’s getting these opportunities.”"

He looks good on his 2017/18 season You Tube video.

Certainly looks more than useful from his highlights video. Let's hope he seizes this opportunity as per Adoma!

Let's hope he doesn't contribute to a 7 game end of season collapse that poor old St Albans suffered. From a dead cert playoff place to no place whatsoever !

This'll be the Darren Currie effect. Proper winger with multiple stepovers, drag backs, and ability to score cracking goals and deliver decent balls in. More pace than Currie though, albeit a bit more one footed! Excited by this (if true).

The article and quotes from the manager prove it to be true, but i suppose the question is will he join and if anyone else is in for him

No so sure I want to see the multiple stepovers and drag-backs (we've had too many of them in recent years with little if any end product). It's the goals and decent deliveries I'm more interested in.

If he's as good as he looks in the videos why would he join Barnet?

A highlights video is just that -his best bits.
The question is more, how typical is the footage in the video of his normal play?

I've seen him a few time at Clarence Park and he has been the best player I've seen at that level

From an article published yesterday:

“He (Saints Boss Ian Allinson) revealed Rhys Murrell-Williamson is still close to a move to Barnet and has not been at City since their squad returned to pre-season training.”
