The appointment of Michael Doyle seems to have been an astute move by Woking. Recent results have been decent (10 points from the last 6 NL games) and punters are taking note. Woking’s price to beat Barnet has strengthened to 11/5.

Meantime, Barnet’s recent form is also decent enough (12 points from the last 6 NL games) although last Saturday’s Trophy defeat is still playing on my mind.

Woking win 11/5
Bees win 23/20
Draw 13/5

Perhaps it is time to go back to an old favourite and pick Nicke Kabamba as the first goalscorer (odds currently 4/1). How good would that be?

Good luck all.

Oddschecker seem to have missed Barnet’s re-arranged game with Eastleigh so I have done a bit of research amongst the more well-known bookies and these are the best odds I can find.

Bees win 1/3 (Bet 365)
Eastleigh win 13/2 (Paddy Power, Ladbrokes, Coral, Wm Hill)
Draw 4/1 (Paddy Power, Wm Hill, Bet 365)

I was unable to attend the Woking game but, if there is a positive to take from Saturday it is that Eastleigh fared a lot worse than us with a 4 1 home defeat. Their one goal was scored by Paul McCallum (naturally) but he may be on International duty with England C. If he does get recalled by Eastleigh I may be tempted to stake a minuscule amount on the away win. Odds of 1/3 do not interest me.

Good luck all.

Just a quick update Paddy Power and Betfair are both offering 10/1, yes TEN to 1 on an Eastleigh win!!

Ridiculous. I wonder how national league games are done by the bookies, Hooper still regularly has some of the best odds to score first on Bet365!!

More miserable odds on a Bees win (2/5). Those odds do not attract my interest. I might cast my eye over the other NL matches. Possibly Eastleigh (9/5) to beat Hartlepool.

Bees win 2/5
Dorking win 13/2
Draw 4/1

Good luck all.

5th v 2nd on Good Friday and live on the box. Whoop!! Let’s have it!!

For a self-confessed pessimist I am surprising myself with my positivity about this Solihull fixture. It won’t be all plain sailing but Solihull are on the dip and the Bees are buoyant after that 6 0 demolition of Dorking last Saturday.

The Moors were taken apart by a good Southend team on Tuesday. The team that they fielded in the 3 0 home defeat is likely to be boosted with some fresh legs, but Barnet’s legs are even fresher.

I won’t be disappointed with a draw but I am fairly confident in Nicke, Callum and GOD asking lots of questions of the Moors defence.

Moors win 14/5
Bees win 10/11
Draw 14/5

These odds seem about right.

Good luck all.

Well, no-one’s gonna get rich betting on an Easter Monday Bees win.
If the bookies are to be believed we can put out a team of tea ladies and still beat Oxford City.
In my mind all NL teams need to be respected, after all Oxford City won their last match….we didn’t!!

Bees win 1/7
Oxford City win 16/1 (yes, SIXTEEN, that’s with William Hill).
Draw 15/2

William Hill can offer what they like, they are not going to tempt me. Mind you, neither is the miserly odds of 1/7.
I might have to look elsewhere to invest my pennies.

Good luck all.

Similar trend for the Maidenhead game as with other recent games in that Barnet are clear favourites to win and with an odds on price.

Maidenhead win 4/1
Bees win 4/6
Draw 3/1

I’m not so sure that this will be an easy game. As with the recent Solihull match I won’t be too distressed with a draw. As for betting on it I may do an in-play bet in the hope that I can get more favourable odds.

Good luck all.

It’s Betfair and Paddy Power offering the 4/1.
Maidenhead don’t draw many games. In their last 15 games they have won 6, drawn just 1 and lost 8 BUT they have won their last two games (3 2 away to Eastleigh and 4 0 at home to Aldershot).
A Barnet win is not a foregone conclusion.

It’s 2nd v 3rd on Tuesday. The big one.
Bees have a five point lead over Bromley so we would not lose our 2nd spot should we lose.
Bromley really need to get the three points but, in truth, I don’t suppose either club would be too upset sharing the points.

Bees win 3/4
Bromley win 10/3
Draw 14/5

The draw does look tempting!!

Good luck all.

I was tempted by the draw on Tuesday…happy days. The important thing was that we did not lose to Bromley. So, mission accomplished.
Another tricky game on Saturday at a venue where our record is not brilliant, but at least the game is on and the surface at Accy will be far better than the Halifax quagmire.

Halifax win 23/10
Bees win 6/5
Draw 5/2

A win for the Bees will signal party time on the 20th but, in true Barnet style I expect us to draw again. We shall see.

Good luck all.

So, our final National League match of the season. For me this season has absolutely flown by. The Bees have consistently been in the top three throughout the season and, at times, have played some exquisite football. We had a bit of a bad spell after our defeat at Chesterfield but injuries to key players were a major contribution to that. We came through that bad spell and sit proudly in 2nd spot with just our final match against already-relegated Kidderminster Harriers to come.
We can all be very proud of everyone connected to Barnet FC.

Can we finish the season with a win?
Well, the bookies think so.

Bees win 8/15
Harriers win 9/2
Draw 10/3

I can foresee a good open game between these two sides and a good atmosphere from the fans.
I go along with the thoughts of the bookies and I look forward to relieving them of some of their vast resources.

Good luck all.
