Dave Howell sacked by St Albans
Dave Howell sacked by St Albans
Breaking news tonight on Twitter that St Albans City have sacked Bees legend Dave Howell as manager, despite the club being sixth in the Southern League Premier Division (one place below promotion play-offs), and without even a phone call to thank him for the great job he's done at the club.

... and his management team, which means that Ken Charlery has gone too.

...and physio and reserve team manager. They came as a team of 4 from Harrow.
Owners gone all funny last few weeks. Wanting improvements on the pitch after a few bad games yet wanting to cut the budget reportedly. Chairman Ian Ridley quit last week after disagreeing with the owners. All going bit Pete Tonge.
Anyway, sure Dave will get a job soon enough and allegiances will move elsewhere for my non-league team. (That's as they never end up at enfailed - that would be a step too far!)

I know a League Two team where he would be very welcome, if he shows half of his determination and skill as a player in management he could do no worse than the present encumbent.

That is just silly silly silly. (I mean the sacking and not where this trio might end up).

Why not bring him in as assistant manager?
Re: Dave Howell sacked by St Albans
Absolutely ridiculous!!! I live in St Albans and read with interest the massive turnaround
in fortune that Howell and Charlery brought to the club.
They have been uncompetitive since the departure of Lord Lippiat. The departure
of Ian Ridley is most telling. He had the contacts book.
A steady decline sadly awaits.

sounds like they've been reading the same book as our friend Mr Fairclough
Re: Dave Howell sacked by St Albans
Sounds standard fare these days, Kevin Gallen was on talk sport the other day & he had been removed from a job at QPR's academy by email a few weeks ago.
Re: Dave Howell sacked by St Albans
They must still be hurting from a certain pre season 10-2 thumping...

Bad decision by club. Howell did a good job there and certainly deserved a lot more. Club on the decline with recent changes to management and behind the scenes
