Josh Keeley signs on loan from Spurs

Post: # 366107Post 11bee717 »

Very intrigued by this, I do not think Spurs would have let him sign without guarantees over game time. Good to see a link being established with Spurs, there's clearly a pathway for young players at our club again!

Looks like the club website is currently undergoing maintenance!

Maybe Lawrie was more seriously injured in our last match than was realised at the time?

Happy won't be happy about that.

I thought he arrived with good pedigree from Millwall. Is he injured?

Has he been playing for the Spurs development squad in the Papa John's Trophy? Just wondering what game time he's had this season.

If all we were looking for was backup we'd surely just sign KML, so this seems to suggest Laurie is out

Good luck to the lad , hope all is ok with Laurie though & this is a move to get Jordan some game time elsewhere.

Looking at the Spurs U21 games, league and cups, Keeley has kept clean sheets in 6 of the 9 games he's played. This includes games v Man City and Newcastle. He was beaten in the EFL games v Posh (including Mason Clarke) a 3-1 loss and v Cambridge, a 4-1 loss. The other game was a 4-2 league win v Chelsea.

On this info I wonder why Spurs are loaning him to us. Maybe he is good enough to sub for Laurie.

DB is ruthless and has got rid of Laurie before at Hemel, harsh on Laurie but he hasn’t had a season as good as the last although has played better recently. Think JK will be starting with maybe Laurie having an eye into his long term future into coaching.

Walker might be a veteran age-wise, but he’s only just started as first-choice keeper at a professional club, for the first time in his career (a couple of short-term loans excepted)! He may indeed be forced into retirement as a player sooner rather than later, but he’ll surely want to play for as long as he can.

Think you may be right about Brennan and his ruthlessness though - he’s been openly critical of Walker for much of the season (surely to the detriment of his form) and as you say he released him from Hemel previously.

If that is the case it will indeed be extremely harsh following three straight clean sheets and arguably two man-of-the-match performances home & away vs Southend. Walker’s the best keeper we’ve had in nearly 30 years.

Keeley does sound very good, I should add!

Very intriguing - Walker isn’t injured and the fanfare we’ve given JK’s signing online, plus DB’s comments, suggest that he’s going to be more than backup. Also can’t think Spurs would loan him to us to sit on the bench.

Spurs fans seem to rate him very highly and, crucially, say he’s very good with the ball at his feet, which is a major weakness of LW.

LW is a senior player and a big personality. Warming the bench will be interesting if it happens

Unless a club is in for Walker and an offer we can't refuse...

More likely repercussions from some of the knocks he has endured in recent games.

That said Walker and Collinge have clashed a couple of times on the pitch this season, but only due to mis communication.

Will the defence trust a rookie keeper. Takes time to build an understanding. Extremely harsh if Walker is dropped
