York City (The Hive Tenporary Stadium) The Say Harrow Wave Goodbye Thread
So..... Saturday sees the bees take to the field in our temporary stadium (squee!) as we take on York City in the Bananarama League.
After the damp squib of Aldershot where we were narrowly defeated by a Playoff Rival the result will be forgotten quickly if we can get back to winning ways. On paper York City offer a much more winnable game with them sitting outside of the relegation zone by 1 point with just 6 points from the last 5 games (or 1 defeat in 5 if your looking for reasons to be gloomy). In medieval times York was the centre of Viking held territory and is a cracking away game so it will be a thor point if they get relegated. With promotion and relegation on the line and the Underhill news this will be a far from loki affair. With Barnet's team struggling with injuries we are fair from odin all the aces for this fixture.
The away game at York City stadium was one of if not our best performance of the season with the Bees running out 4-2 winners. Only Dopi Akinyemi provided any resistance for York and with his fitness uncertain for Saturday this should be a game we can be confident of winning.
This game will also be special as it will be the first game at "Home" since TK announced his intention to move the club back to Underhill so promises to be an emotional day for fans and hopefully one where we can shake off our weariness and secure three much needed points.
With Ayres Rock once again injured I think this is an opportunity to go to a back 4, rather than trusting Stevens to a second 90 minutes in 4 days or Cropper or Wynter at Centre Back.
----------------------------Keeley--------------------------
---Cropper-------Thompson-------Okimo-------Coker---
-------------Pritchard------Hartigan-----Brunt------------
--Hall-Johnson----------O'Donkor------------Freeman----
Subs: Walker, Wynter, Stevens, Stead, Armstrong
I am missing this one due to a prior engagement. Bit gutted to be honest but hopefully the bees will get those three points to take us closer to 3rd place.

Good ticket sales from the York City fans. Block A nearly full.
Looking at the away sales from the Chesterfield fans for Tuesday’s game it seems that many of them have taken refunds judging by the green spaces in Blocks A, B and C. That postponement of the original game (20th January) is going to affect the attendance quite a bit.

Unfortunately a few games like this - Bromley especially I would assume. Another negative of the trophy run you could say!hoppy wrote: ↑22 Feb 2024, 15:41 Good ticket sales from the York City fans. Block A nearly full.

Yes, although the only home game our FA Trophy run has caused to be postponed, including the quarter final, is Rochdale (Bromley game would obviously have been postponed anyway if we were out of the competition).PBBee wrote: ↑22 Feb 2024, 17:05Unfortunately a few games like this - Bromley especially I would assume. Don't blame them. Championship is won.

Can't see us getting a result. The players look shot to pieces and morale will be at a low with all the injuries to key players.
The wheels of our season have fallen off. Shame.

We are playing York. They are 16th but only 1 point above the relegation zone. If we can't even hope for a result against them, why bother playing the remainder of the season?

I do wonder if DB's interview painted a more negative picture of the injury situation compared to reality, borne out of the frustration of Tuesday's result.
Don't be surprised to see one or two feature earlier than the end of March. We've just got to dig in and grind out some results over the next few weeks.

Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

We're at home to a team that has only won 8 all season and we stuck four past them at their own ground. We've got one of the best home records in the division, and our record against the bottom half is almost perfect.
We've won three out of our last four at home and it would've been four out of four but for some rotten luck and atrocious finishing.
We were absolutely horrendous on Tuesday but we nearly came away with a point and we won convincingly last Saturday.
If we don't get the required points from our remaining games we don't deserve promotion, simple as that but I fully expect us to win on Saturday, injuries or not.

Yes, correct. Didn’t even notice Solihull equalised! Same idea applies though, but we beat a team that ultimately got a point against the team attempting to close in on us and beat the team that beat us on Tuesday! I wouldn’t call that a team that’s wheels have fell off but what do I knowjamiefrbees wrote: ↑22 Feb 2024, 21:03whilst i agree with the sentiment, your stats are wrong.WillesdenBee wrote: ↑22 Feb 2024, 18:33

Fylde drew against Solihull and lost to us
