Maidenhoof (Away) The Sparkes Fly Match Thread
So...... Saturday sees the Bees hit the road as we take on the Berkshire Blacksmiths, Maidenhoof, in our latest Bananarama fixture.
While Barnet have consolidated their place in the playoffs the hoofers have gone early on their usual scramble for safety and three wins and nine points in their last 5 games see them sitting ugly on 51 points which should be enough to see them safe of their fellow hoofers Boredomwood and the 85%ers. It is the kind of form which makes BeesKnees99 weak at the knees with excitement. They have a couple of ex bees in their lineup in Saint Barratt, and Charleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Adams but there has been a power cut in the area as Dan Sparkes has joined another hoofy team, Braintree following his release at the Magpies.
It is to be hoped that the magpies will have taken their hoof off the gas. With train strikes it looks like the Lizzie line is the best way to get to the ground although if you are flying over the ground from Heathrow you will get just as good a look at the ball. The National League will be trialling GPS in the footballs for this fixture, not from a sports science point of view but they are tired of having to provide replacement balls for the ones the Maidenhead defenders launch in to Slough residents gardens.
Given the ropey pitch and what could kindly be described as a "direct" style of football, I expect us to return to a back 3 and I would not be surprised to see Cropper retain his place given overlapping runs will be very limited on that quagmire.

I am doing this one by train. Hoping for a fun day out and a solid away win.

Amazingly in their last 12 games Maidenhead have won 5 & lost 7! NO draws! That must be some sort of record?
I love Luisma & really miss his skils!
Re: Maidenhoof (Away) The Sparkes Fly Match Thread
One of the reasons were second is that we’ve had very few draws. We’ve lost more games than you’d normally expect for a team in second, but won most of the other games. Maidenhead have drawn twice as many games as us, despite that recent record.

Another reason I'm loving the Brennan era. No-one wants to follow draw specialists, of which Oldham are the kings this season.
Win or Lose. Death or Glory. Love it

The club seem to have published Connor Smith’s pre-match interview as ‘unlisted’ (doesn’t appear in your YouTube feed if you subscribe, doesn’t appear in searches etc.), so in case anyone has missed it it’s available here: https://youtu.be/_jmxj46aFpE?si=2n8AIJ-0dsBhT_jP

Last year’s game was a scrappy, turgid affair - and I managed to miss Harry Smith’s wonder goal because I was checking the league table on my phone.
With the wind swirling today I foresee another poor quality game.

Intending to use NLTV stream today - but only 12.30 game listed... am sure it's an oversight?

I don’t see why it ought to, but I’ll find out in a few minutes time!BeesKnees99 wrote: ↑06 Apr 2024, 12:43 Do we know if segregation is in place?

Absolutely not. National League game followed by a major league tear-up.rudebwoyben wrote: ↑06 Apr 2024, 12:55I don’t see why it ought to, but I’ll find out in a few minutes time!BeesKnees99 wrote: ↑06 Apr 2024, 12:43 Do we know if segregation is in place?

Pritchard and Kanu on the bench.
RHJ in for Cropper.
We go for a back 5 with Okimo starting and Freeman dropping to the bench.
No segregation in place.

With Pritchard and Kanu back in the squad, I don't believe we have anyone else to come back do we? (other than Oluwo, who is out for season)
