I remember hearing years ago our top paid player was on 2k. Can't remember when it was, so not useful!

I think Wynter was our top paid player but I expect it is now Nicke.

What do we think our highest paid player is on? Would it be Nicke?
Any idea what Big John was on back in the day?
My recollection is that Akinde was on £1000 pw at Alfreton but after a season ( 2013/14 ) they couldn't afford him any more, which was how we signed him. That was May 2014.

I assumed when he signed that new three year deal that he was on multiple £1,000s a week. But that was pure guesswork on my part.

Eastleigh are paying McCallum 4k per week + £500 per appearance & £500 per goal. Southend are strongly linked with signing him. How come Southend could be interested in matching that amount of money, yet next month are in court with a winding up order over unpaid debts.

Doubt we are paying anybody anywhere near 2k a week at the moment. Under Currie that was what the average was, but since then our budget has certainly more than halved.

I was reliably informed that Big John’s last contract was worth £4k a week with us. It was a calculated gamble by TK because he didn’t want Big John to run his contract down and was expecting him to go for decent money. He took a short term hit to protect his asset and we got alright money for him.

He’s 32 now but if Brennan is going to stick with the ‘box’ midfield, with two advanced centre mids, Harry Beautyman has always been a standout player at National League level (for Welling and Sutton). Gets goals too, and you need that end product if you’re only playing one out-and-out striker. We had him on trial many years ago I think (under Davids, maybe, in 2013?).
Eastmond wouldn’t be a bad shout either
I recall that back in around 2017 it was reported that we’d had a bid for Eastmond accepted by Sutton, but he turned the move down and chose to stay put.

DB will know what the likelihood of him recovering from his injury is and whether playing 35 games is feasible, if it is id imagine he’d jump at the chance of bringing him back.

Always seemed like a very good guy when he broke through and MA gave him his chance here, has gone on and had a decent league career and judging from the social media responses he seems very well thought of at FGR..... Hope he doesn't become another to come back and haunt us next season (unless he has already?)

Suspect Matty Stevens also falls into the unlikely to play 30 games category.

Yep, you might be right. I do think DB will be looking at bringing in one or two of his mould though - that is players who have been there and done it in terms of winning promotions and titles. Characters who can stand up to the pressure and get us over the line.
