Past managers
Re: Past managers
Not knocking Gary at all, purely pointing out that in answer to someone commenting that results got worse under Clemence that we got more points under him in the same number of games. The fact we have a club today is down to Gary and those players who gave their all for the club whatever their limitations.

Re: Past managers
I don't suppose any of you chaps would have accurate dates for the managerial changes in 1996/1997?
Oh and if you've got any before 1986 that would be great as well!

When I started going to Barnet aged 4 or 5 I was far too distracted watching Dougie Freedman torment opposition defenders to appreciate having a legend like Ray Clemence in the dugout!

I should say I was mesmerised by both Dougie's goalscoring and Gary Phillips' glorious 'tache, which only old school goalkeepers and 1980s porn stars could get away with. Both legends!antbfc wrote:Completely understandable, always the best way!

It's tough to be accurate looking back through the mists of time, back then I hadn't a clue who the manager was,but I can remember Figgy,Reg Finch,Les Eason,Johnny Barr being my heroes.Early 60's?

I was nearly 11 at the time and was also at Wembley. That was my 2nd season supporting Barnet.ricardobee wrote:I remember going to Wembley in 1959 for the Amateur Cup final in 1959 and George Wheeler leading us out. Although we lost 3-2, Bobby Brown scored two great goals. I was 11 at the time.
Dexter Adams was the first person to have the title of "Manager" at Barnet. Up until then the title was 1st XI Secretary, and the committee used to assist in team selection.

My two fav. players were Reg Finch & Tony Harding. My Dad used to work with Brian Figg.
