I can't believe we spent two whole seasons getting ripped down the left hand side with Parkes at LB. He was clearly inept in that position but also had a fair bit of pace and had a cracking long range shot on him too. It struck me as pretty obvious he was more of an attacking mid and it's not suprising he's ripping up the Southern Premier in an attacking role. Surprised no Conference clubs have come in for him yet.

That's interesting to note; the preditable jibe against Barnet FC is less interesting. England youth teams, Watford FC and others also 'wasted' him there. Ultimately, the guy never showed he had the quality to cut it as a football league player, decent shot or not. Lots of players have scored lots of goals in the Southern League, including the likes of Anthony Thomas. Success in the Southern League obviously doesn't mean that a player can't cut it higher up, but there are countless examples which illustrate why in itself it doesn't mean that they can.

It's true to say that he wasn't good enough as a left back in the football league. However, he could score 40 goals this season for Hemel and we still wouldn't be any the wiser as to whether he would have been up to it further up the pitch.

Richie Graham, released by St Albans City recently, has signed for Southern League Premier title contenders Chesham United ...

... although, given that we've won all of our last ten games with a more-or-less unchanged team, there isn't much likelihood of him becoming a first team regular at Chesh. Still, it's good to have some experienced back-up in the squad, and Richie still looked pretty fit, delivering some useful crosses and corners, when Chesham played St Albans at Christmas.

Very true. After all, Anthony Thomas scored 72 goals in 2 seasons for Hemel Hempstead Town but barely scored for us.
