Re: New Stadium at old Friern Barnet Sewerage Works!
I think it's on the other side of the NCR, near the Picadilly Line bridge over the NCR and close to Middlesex University.

Re: Goal & Performance of the Decade
I think the floodlight failure occurred after we equalised but that was an excellent second half performance from us that night. Pity it didn't continue like that for the rest of the 05/06 season.

Like Ivan Sunday or Pamboe?
Not sure they were big enough names to get excited about in the first place!

Re: Barnet Billy Big Boys who turned out to be Rubbish XI
In fairness, we didn't get to really see if Chris James was any good as in classic Fairclough style he was signed to great (well, medium sized) fanfare, and then only ever played for about 5 minutes, while he persisted with players that were clearly not up to the job. Eh? He was signed by Ian Hendon...

Re: Barnet Non-Team Of The Decade
I don't think anyone's mentioned David Hillier yet when we had him at the beginning of the 2002/03 season. He was quite a big name signing after playing regularly for Arsenal and Portsmouth in the nineties but he was absolute shite. Overweight and couldn't be bothered. I remember we lost 4-2 up at ...

Re: Play-offs and chav anti-football
Didn't really want Swansea to go up because it'll just encourage that lot north of the border to renew their "Celtic and Rangers in the premiership" nonsense. Except it won't. The Welsh clubs in the English football pyramid have always been there since league football started in the late ...

Re: O/T Worst tackles of our time Sponsored by Johnny Doolan
I think that was the game where Southend subbed their keeper at half time after he had an awful first half. Can't ever recall that happening before or since.[/quote] To put it mildly, he did a bit of a Sam Walker on Danny Brown's shot for the winner, although this was a fairly high shot rather than ...

Re: O/T Worst tackles of our time Sponsored by Johnny Doolan
They both got sent off for that little tete-a-tete, I believe. When the game restarted nobody was watching the game but instead trying to get a look down the tunnel as the two were kicking seven bells out of each other. All of that over a 1st round LDV cup game. Nah, it was a league match. ...

Re: O/T Worst tackles of our time Sponsored by Johnny Doolan
They both got sent off for that little tete-a-tete, I believe. I remember a particularly horrendous John Doolan blockbuster that felled a Farney player during John Still's last match in charge of us - a dismal 3-0 home defeat in front of 750 odd fans, which ended with a chorus of Still Out in the mi...

Re: Play-offs and chav anti-football
The comment that Welsh clubs all ought to play in the LoW is pretty inaccurate. Swansea City, Cardiff City, Wrexham, AFC Newport, Merthyr and Colwyn Bay have always played in the English league system. The only reason why the LoW was set up was because the FAW misguidedly thought that Wales would lo...

Re: Barnet Non-Team Of The Decade
That's because even though he was here for a long time he played very few matches due to injury and also because he did show the odd glimpse of what he might have been (the goals at Stockport and at home to Wrexham in 05/06)
Bankole was bonkers, no wonder he left you nervous. But it worked.

Re: Goal & Performance of the Decade
Performance My personal top 3 are the 3-1 away win at Crawley in our Conference winning season - a really good controlled display against a team who had started the season well and were unbeaten at home; the 4-1 cup win against Northampton Town in 06/07 where we turned a match around in the blink of...

Re: Barnet Non-Team Of The Decade
Ademola Bankole was er.. a bit eccentric in goal but his record in his short spell with us was excellent. We suffered no defeats in the 8 games he played for us and we only let in 5 goals in those matches. I quite liked him, he was obviously a bit mad but he had presence.

Re: Barnet Non-Team Of The Decade
Seeing the teams that people have put out for this has made me realise that I've forgotten about the existence of several ex-Bees, Ryan O'Neil and Jeremy de Magalhaes for instance.
I don't recall there being any updates to their circumstances in the ex-Bees thread at all.

Don't forget, in addition to Dougie's sale for £800k, we sold Maik Taylor for £600k , Linvoy Primus and Lee Hodges for £500k, Sean Devine for £220k and Marlon King for £255k...
