Stevenage going down...
Re: Stevenage going down...
The 8 play-off position sides in NLN/NLS plus maybe Stockport & Chorley will be against. The top 6 in NL (except maybe Harrogate + B'wood - see below) plus us, Fylde, Ebbsfleet, and Wealdstone and Kings Lynn will be for. The others won't really care. Guessing it'll still pass if only 51% vote is required if the silent majority go with league recommendation.
Have read eslewhere that B'wood may not fancy the extra costs of extending players contracts / virus testing and may drop out. This would presumably mean we would play Halifax in the QF with Yeovil getting a bye.

That wouldn't be too bad. However we played 9 matches last August. I wonder whether the season might just finish later - or perhaps shelve the F A Trophy for a season?jerroll wrote:https://twitter.com/Ollie_Bayliss/statu ... 29026?s=20

Re: Stevenage going down...
They should abolish replays in all cups for one season. Fa Cup, FA Trophy and Vase. Settle ties after 90 mins with pens. Maybe there's also a case for scheduling trophy games midweek instead of replacing a league fixture. Make the semi finals single ties. Home advantage decided by the luck of the draw... just thinking out loud of course.

Re: Stevenage going down...
If Macclesfield are the club who are relegated due to unpaid wages, would they also be blocked from joining National League too?
NL seem to be quite strict on solvency compared to EFL. A possible reprieve for Chorley, and Macclesfield go straight to NLN ?

Re: Stevenage going down...
Quite possibly. The NL have indeed taken a tough stance on clubs who cannot balance their books. Gateshead, Hereford & Salisbury all in recent years.hoofer2 wrote:If Macclesfield are the club who are relegated due to unpaid wages, would they also be blocked from joining National League too?

Re: Stevenage going down...
Why would the NL admit Macc Town to the NLN after not approving their entry to the NL? Surely they’d be demoted all the way to the Northern Premier League?hoofer2 wrote:If Macclesfield are the club who are relegated due to unpaid wages, would they also be blocked from joining National League too?

Re: Stevenage going down...
Under the EFL rules, Macclesfield cannot be deducted any points for failure of paying wages. Therefore, Stevenage should still be bottom. The hearing is today so there should be some clarity later.
Re: Stevenage going down...
According to an article on BBC Sport, Macclesfield's points deductions in December and May were both for failing to fulfil a fixture and for non payment of wages / salaries.edgeog wrote:Under the EFL rules, Macclesfield cannot be deducted any points for failure of paying wages. I believe Boston United went straight to NLN after relegation from League 2 due to a "breach of rules"rudebwoyben wrote:Why would the NL admit Macc Town to the NLN after not approving their entry to the NL? I remember that, but that was 13 years ago. Would the same judgement be applied?
Re: Stevenage going down...
Been said that Macclesfield can't get a points deduction for not paying their players, but lots of people saying lots of things.
i'm saying: relegate Stevenage.
