I wish him well but he hasn't been fighting off offers since leaving the Hive

Neither has Frank Lampard. Eddie Howe. Which is also a suprise.

I was surprised that Frank didn't go for England u21 job as he had a good knowledge of those players!

The difference being that I imagine almost every club who has been looking for a manager since Lampard and Howe left Chelsea and Bournemouth would have offered them their vacancies in a flash had they been interested and affordable.

He turned down new contract.
Nothing new about it, same money at best, wasn't one of the best paid managers in the NL as it was and no reward for getting the club into the play-off's.

Not exactly a massive amount of jobs going about at this level since we dispensed of his services, so I can't see where exactly he was going to fit in considering we were about the only club messing about last year with managers.

Fans are very critical of Maher...maybe Darren will be given the job. This is the only semi positive comment on their forum.

Interesting to see Currie giving Walsh a bit of stick and encouragement to then be told to stop by Maher… I’d like to see Maher having a little bit of Currie’s passion on display. The team played with a similar style to Maher’s touch line persona.

If Currie has any sense he'll be hoping that Maher stays in the job and he can remain number 2. It sounds like a poison chalice.
It must be hard on Southend's fans to see how far they've fallen. I'd prefer them to stay up but that's solely because I'd not wish 3 successive relegations on anybody.

And now Southend United have been given a transfer embargo due to not paying money which was due to HMRC.

Don’t they have something like this every season?

And they released plans for a brand new stadium recently too.

Yes, and the plans for this new stadium are several years old.

As good as Dean Brennan has improved the teams mentality and got them working as a unit. I would like to see Darren come back as manager with Brennan reverting back to his position as Director of football.

Couldn't disagree with you more. DB has achieved wonders with these players. Losing at in-form Yeovil doesn't change that. What we desperately need for the rest of this season is continuity, not yet another manager coming in with his different ideas and changing everything yet again.

The way things are going at Southend, maybe he'll get the opportunity to be caretaker manager there before too long.
