The not-so-jubilant Ashes thread

6 wickets for 9 runs? I know England have failed to post a good total for some time and relied on the bowling to support some below par batting, but a collapse like that is more like the England I grew up with.

Hopefully, we can recover and bat better in the rest of the series, but it won't be easy coming from 1-0 down, especially as you would expect confidence to take a bit of a hammering.

Expect an entire series of short pitched 90mph bowling. Good to see Australia finally have a plan that doesn't involve being rubbish for 5 days.

I think we've copied Australia's previous plan - i.e. being rubbish for 5 days.

How is it that Nathan Lyon, a jobbing spinner, can take 5 wickets, but Monty is completely ineffective. This team is a complete joke, and needs wholesale changes from top to bottom. My team would be:-

Root
Cook
Bell
Pietersen
Taylor
Stokes
Buttler
Borthwick
Broad
Anderson
Onions

Stuart Broad to take over as captain, and Andy Flower to step aside as coach. New blood and a new direction desperately needed.
