Coventry (Hive) The Outcast Match Thread

Post: # 225929Post Bee_Forever »

So..... Saturday sees the bees returning to League hoof action versus Coventry City.

Coventry, previously the perennial Premier League strugglers in the years of Steve Ogrizovic and Gordon Strachan, now find themselves in the bottom tier of English League Football, making this the first time we have played them in the league. The phrase being sent to Coventry is certainly one which Nicholls, Watson and Sweeney will be familiar with

Having apparently lost our best 3 strikers for this game, and with confidence low after 1 point from a possible 15 this has all the hallmarks of a tricky fixture, and the hope will be that we do not crumble again in front of the sky cameras.

In terms of starting lineup, the loss of Coulthirst is a crippling blow to our chances in this game, and with Akpa-Akpro our only fit striker, the options are limited, to put it kindly. I would go with the following:-

---------------------Ross-----------------------

-------Clough-------Nelson-----Santos------

--Vilhete----------------------------Tutonda--

------------Weston----J. Taylor---------------

-----JCR-----------------------------Akinola----

---------------Akpa-Akpro-----------------------

Subs: RML, H. Taylor, Smith, Sweeney, Bover, Fonguck, Nicholls

If Weston does not make it then Fonguck to start.

I am going to this game, but have had to make my own public transport arrangements as the club are yet to announce shuttle bus arrangements. Are they aware if kicks off at 12:30? :grrr:

Shuttle bus timetable is up on the main site now.
I had a little gander at the ticketing page for this game. It looks like all the East Stand seats have been shaded out, along with the front few rows of blocks A & B in the west, so I'm guessing that's where a lot of the free tickets have gone. At least the stadium won't look empty when the cameras are watching. Hope it stays dry for everyone.

As for the team, is Mars anywhere near ready to be involved after last night?
I doubt Weston will be fit, so I would imagine Harry will get the nod on the right and Vilhete goes back in the middle.

That would depend on what time the bars open.

Forgot about Mars, still on another planet after yesterdays stopover in Harpended. Drink2:

I would imagine TK would have applied for a one off variation of the licence to open the bars earlier (11am) and that this would be supported as the police would be keen to get the supporters on site and in the stadium as soon as possible.

Am I going.

Who knows?

Are my friends going?

Who knows?

Is half our crowd going?

Who knows?

Did Barnet Council manage shift any of the £2 tickets?

Who knows?

It's not just the line up that has a degree of uncertainty to this one!

As Eames doesn't want to get Watson,Nicholls or Sweeney Involved this is my team. Also JLAA is very poor indeed
GK Ross
RWB H Taylor
CB Santos
CB Nelson
CB Clough
LWB Tutonda
CM Fonguck if Weston is fit play Weston
CM J Taylor
CAM Vilhete
ST Akinola
ST Mars if Coulthrirst is fit play Coulthrist

:D

Can I add:
Which Barnet will show up?
The slick, sharp, passing one,
Or the one that can't string one pass together?

Who knows!

Please, please, please let it be the team that beat Swindon that turns up. I know so many Cov fans and have been taking the P out them ever since they came down, would be good to get a result for so many reasons.

I reckon Rossi will unleash Malakai Mars from the start and the unknown will cause them havoc.

I've got a feeling we are going to be embarrassed on live TV. What are the odds of Mad Dog being one of the pundits?

What a bunch of doom and gloom negative critical ‘supporters’ you all are.

Big game, in front of the cameras, and despite the injuries a chance for a shock result. Happy Friday everyone.

All the TV attention will be about Coventry and their promotion push. Time to upset the apple cart live on air...

Bars open 10.30. Someone mentioned seeing the club had applied weeks ago but the approval only came through today so we can pin this one on the council.
