What is it exactly which makes Westley such a hated figure in some of our supporters eyes? As someone who has supported the club when he he was manager against us at Farnborough, Stevenage and Newport, the only crime he seems to have committed was to come across a bit arrogant. Hardly a rare trait in most management circles. Can't see that he's ever bad-mouthed our club. Have I missed something?
If you scroll beneath the surface you'll find out. Look at what happened at Farnborough for example.

Another piece here re Preston.

This quote from a commenter says a lot - wonder whether he will try to rename the Hive?

"His initiative to rename Farnborough Town's ground the Aimita stadium (Attitude Is More Important Than Ability) says it all, in my opinion. His tactic of loading his side with six-foot plus lumps whose physical application to the game was successful but it won him few friends. I know plenty of people who have a grudging respect for his achievements but you will find very few people outside of Stevenage who actually like the style of football he embraces."

If Mark Randall says he’s bad. That actually makes me feel like we’ve got a manager that asks his players to work hard for his team.
Oh yeah, that's a clear vindication of Westley. It's not like shortly after Randall was ostracised Newport lost 0-4 at home to Orient's youth team, while Randall now plays for a mid table club.

Oh, wait.

Ha. Agreed. Randall had bags of skill but looked like he couldn't be doing with running and tackling.

We could do with some six-foot plus lumps at the moment to put themselves about and let the opposition know they are in a game and that Barnet are no rollovers!

I reckon there’ll be a few extra supporters going on Saturday just for morbid curiosity purposes, it will be interesting viewing.

Ah yes, i remember now... that said, he's not going to be able to dabble in the business side of our club. That's TK's baby. All we need GW to do is manage the squad. The aim for the next few months is simple enough. Win enough games to stay up.
Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

What is it you have against him? overall he's record is decent, and it's about time we had a no nonsense manager, who will at least sort out the men from the boys. So get behind him and the team for one last ditch effort.

Maybe he’s looking to buy the club, TK did say he’d sell to the right person

Randall was the most talented player never to make a decent career out of football. I wonder why he'd dislike GW? Having said that I really think that this is a huge gamble, but our luck must change soon.

Outside of Stevenage his record is terrible, and if by "sort the men from the boys" you mean ostracise anyone under 6 foot (bye Mauro!) then that part is accurate.

This place has become like BTID on Facebook.

It now appears there's nowhere to go to escape the hysteria so I'm going to say this once only and then leave all the whiners to whine it out.

This is a great appointment and I now believe we will stay up, when I believed we were doomed before.

Westley excels in every area that this squad lacks - discipline, commitment and working as a unit.

The egos in our squad are about to get a wake up call and for the first time in a long time I'm actually excited about coming to a game

I live in Stevenage and have friends who support Stevenage FC and I can assure you they do not like the style of football he embraces.

So what would you prefer, the dogshit awful crap and bottom of the League like at the moment, or promotions and play-offs he achieved at the Chavs. At least give the man a chance.
