It's no surprise, we are where we currently stand. Mind-blowing....

The person that has officially taken over Andrew Adie's roles in most of the Hive companies (according to companies house) is Mahendra Patel (and various versions of the name).
Anyone know who he is and his role within the organisation?
If only I had a wall chart of responsibilities....

The original post states that James Thorne is not the Head of Football, but is in fact the Chief Operating Officer.beew wrote:Not many of that 400 are associated with the football side of things. Why on earth is it 'mind-blowing' that he is responsible for a staff body which includes a lot of people who aren't footballers?
How does this 'really show the lack of intention for Barnet FC'? How would it improve our prospects of getting 3 points on a Saturday if there were fewer people in the staff James Thorne is responsible for working in revenue-raising non-football functions?

It shows Tony is delegating which is what we want.

I've always thought JT was in charge of player recruitment. Our player recruitment has been a shambles overn the last 18 months. It now transpires that he is in charge of 400 members of staff. Maybe, just maybe if we had someone who could concentrate on bringing quality players, who we actually need, in the right positions, we could get those 3 points in matches that would mean we wouldn't be facing almost certain relegation to the NL.Tuesds wrote:The original post states that James Thorne is not the Head of Football, but is in fact the Chief Operating Officer.beew wrote:Not many of that 400 are associated with the football side of things. Re: Supporters Liaison Group 17th April Meeting Notes
As mentioned earlier, Thorne was a part of the player recruitment process last summer, then his role has changed. TK answered a question in the Q&A regarding who is involved in player recruitment. At the time, it was primarily Mark McGhee as "Head of Technical". Right now I've no idea who would be responsible for this, but then we've not had a transfer window since January, and MA seemed to take the decision to trim the squad and get players out on loan afterwards before the loan deadline.
Personally, I thought the calibre of players brought in over the summer between Rossi & James was right, but we missed out on a midfielder when we really needed one to replace Togwell/Champion. The other signings of Ross, Brindley, Shaq & Tarpey, on paper, were strong additions all capable of starting games rather than being bench fillers.
The January window was the one where we dragged our heels and lacked direction. That was an opportunity missed.

Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!
Re: Supporters Liaison Group 17th April Meeting Notes
Why not simply go back to letting the manager find his own players? It strikes me as far easier to make excuses for player shortcomongs when you had no / minimal say in who was recruited.
I think we'd have been better in January had we dragged our heels even more instead of making the signings that we did make.

Re: Supporters Liaison Group 17th April Meeting Notes
There is no doubt the club has difficulty recruiting managers and players of choice. Not so much a financial issue these days but more the size of the crowd. Outsiders do not believe if Barnet was a successful L1 club gates would exceed 3,000 when they clearly prefer to perform in front of the bigger crowds found elsewhere.
Then again Accrington and Wimbledon might tell a different story although both have enjoyed a spell of good fortune which we have not with our horrendous injury problem earlier this season.
Come to the next SLG meeting and put these questions to the chairman.

Wimbledon had an average crowd of over 4,000 in League 2!

Re: Supporters Liaison Group 17th April Meeting Notes
Does anyone really believe that a player or manager would turn down a move to a club offering competitive wages and terms at Div 1 and 2 levels because the crowds aren't very big ? What a load of ballderdash !Tobeeornottobee wrote:There is no doubt the club has difficulty recruiting managers and players of choice. I agree. The facilities at THL are some of the best in L1 & 2. This should attract players/managers to give them the best chances to progress their careers.Hiveoccupier wrote:Does anyone really believe that a player or manager would turn down a move to a club offering competitive wages and terms at Div 1 and 2 levels because the crowds aren't very big ? Re: Supporters Liaison Group 17th April Meeting Notes
According to the Chairman 3/4 possible managers with a decent track record approached these past few months turned down the opportunity to manage Barnet preferring to hold out for a bigger club. That is reality not balderdash.
Re: Supporters Liaison Group 17th April Meeting Notes
It may have been that.
It may have been the contractual arrangements.
It may have been that they didn’t fancy working with the chairman.
It may have been something else.
