Notts County (Hive) The Match Thread With Kewell Intentions
Re: Notts County (Hive) The Match Thread With Kewell Intenti
When you completely rebuild a squad over the summer there's always a risk that you lose any sense of continuity.
I'm glad we've avoided that trap.

I'd take Kefalas back on loan again to shore up the midfield. Would be better served playing here than in QPR's U23s

We had little choice though because last season's squad was so poor.genevabee wrote:When you completely rebuild a squad over the summer there's always a risk that you lose any sense of continuity.

You forgot the bit about 'moving forward' - they aren't that great that they can bend the fabric of time itself and go backwardsNorfolk & Chance wrote:Can you point out anyone who was being irrational?Spodothebee wrote:Right let’s be rational for a second.
A poor start, yes, but it is clear Wrexham notts and Chesterfield will be in a league of their own moving forward.
The issues that need addressing with the squad are both visible and solvable.
Anyone writing off the team after 1 game is either not a true fan, or simply pessimistic beyond their means.
How can someone be pessimistic beyond their means?
Has anyone written the team off?
Apart from that, Spodo, quality post!

Admittedly it was more pre-emptive- I was expecting to come and see many writing us off, so premature on my part.Norfolk & Chance wrote:Can you point out anyone who was being irrational?Spodothebee wrote:Right let’s be rational for a second.

Being more optimistic, there are still a few players in our squad not in action today who are earmarked as first team regulars. Action needs to be taken on our central midfield right now though.

Might I politely suggest that you re-read my post with an eye for savage irony?#Beebot wrote:We had little choice though because last season's squad was so poor.genevabee wrote:When you completely rebuild a squad over the summer there's always a risk that you lose any sense of continuity.

They worked us out at half time. They first 3 goals all due to Doherty galavanting forward and the space on his side being exposed. Our tradition of debutants being sent off continues but if that means a left back with positional sense coming in next game it’s not the end of the world

Sadly it looks like Beard is injuredDSM wrote:They worked us out at half time. They first 3 goals all due to Doherty galavanting forward and the space on his side being exposed. In a word hopeless though notts c are quality and destined for league 2. Who is going to score the goals?

A question I asked on this forum some weeks ago. The squad still feels unbalanced despite all the comings and goings.talldarkslim wrote:In a word hopeless. Who is going to score the goals?

The forward line is OK it's further back that lets us down.talldarkslim wrote:In a word hopeless though notts c are quality and destined for league 2. Who is going to score the goals?

I thought we matched a very strong notts side first half but they were excellent going forward.
I think we'll be fine this season. Flanagan looked lively.
Not sure a team with Brundle,Payne and Taylor is needed.
Couldn't tell the difference between Payne and brundle. Not sure what Taylors role was.

New gk - 7 looks like a good solid keeper good hands and brave let down by his team mates
Thomas - 5 not ready yet
Turley- 6 pretty solid
BRE- 6 average
Doherty - 5 doubled up on everytime looked out of his depth
Taylor- 5 looked unfit
Payne - 6.5 looks like a solid player
Brundle - 5 too slow needs some lace around him
Mason Clarke- 5 not involved enough
Flanagan -4 woeful didn’t break past a jog most of the game
Bloomfield - 6.5 great in the ball , really needs to play with a nippy striker not by himself !
Subs - came on too late
You could see the issues with the formation after 20 mins, damage was done before any changes were made , hopefully a lesson we learn quick !
Really need a right back , centre mid with speed past 2mph
