Barnet’s Finance Discussed

Post: # 322793Post BEEGONE »

The excellent Price of Football podcast has taken a look look at the clubs finance.

Kieran Maguire a total expert on football money has concerns over the stadium situation, the budget and worked out that the group which owns the club has done very well out of medical stuff…

Very short but it’s an excellent regular podcast.

There was nothing of value about this club in the podcast.

Ironic, as there is nothing of value in the club either.

Nope, there was nothing there for us.

I had asked a more detailed and comprehensive question a couple of weeks ago - but they have a 4 month backlog of questions, so I don't think they'll tackle it now as they've dealt with "Barnet FC".

Basically - "don't own the ground" and "nothing to worry much about" and "not really making a concerted effort to get back in the league".

Not owning the ground we knew hence why even enquiring with TK direct the club would be for sale but your buying no asset you would have to rent the ground and training facility off him - this is why I say be careful what we wish for he has us by the short and curly's unless we can find somewhere in barnet for next to nothing etc

I wonder with the strength of the national league this year do we still have a top ten budget?

Well a couple of Notts County fans told me Wrexham were paying Mullen £9k a week, which must about half our players budget.

And there you have it, In a Nutshell.

Also evident from the Notts County squad.

More fans, or Huge owner investment = More Income = More squad budget.

Please stop the moaning about weddings etc.

Football grounds are for football. Weddings are for other venues. If you have to have a wedding at the football ground then schedule it when football isn't being played there. P.s. We will be doing funerals next as the place is a morgue already.

Because every other club has weddings taking place whilst matches are on… :?:

There would be no wedding venue without Barnet Football Club. TK and his staff clearly no longer care about the football club though.

The problem with your analysis is that The Hive London isn’t a football ground as such. Rather it is a multi purpose leisure / medical complex where football happens to be played. It’s probably the least profitable activity.

What really saddens me is that the Hive Bar is apparently going to be turned into a ‘players lounge’ for the current bunch of overpaid under achieving journeymen. Presumably so Sheree doesn’t have to mix up with hoi poloi aka us ordinary long suffering fans.

For me personally who will not use the overall Hive facilities outside club shop and grabbing refreshment, having Legends as our Barnet space makes 100% sense to me. Think of it as the clubhouse - the Durham Suite, the cricket pavilion. At Underhill only a few could get into Durham Suite when match was running - only select few could manage it from.East Terrace . We are forgetting that a true non-league experience is shivering outside miles away from a cosy bar! We have so few fans as it is so why spread so thinly!!

I agree that Weddings are incongruous with football, but timing and logistics were at fault here. Don't have wedding car pull up in the hour before kickoff - I'm sure wedding party did not want black and amber shirts in photos either. Fans having own space in Legends makes sense to me. At Underhill we had to walk around ground from Durham/Pavilion- this arrangement is no different.

The trouble with this line of thinking is that we were sold that we were leaving Underhill behind for a shiny new modern stadium. Clearly that hasn't been delivered. Maybe it was never meant to be delivered...
