He really knows how to shake the NL money tree. He was apparently on £1500 a week at Barnet. I don’t get how he gets these big contracts when he’s never been part of a promotion winning team at this level.
Weren't pretty much all of Still's signings on big money?
And this has had a knock-on effect ever since. TK could probably open his wallet and provide a playing budget that matches most teams in the top half of the league, but Mr Still's antics have no doubt made him very wary of doing so. In some ways you can understand this stance, but whether or not it is right for the club going forward remains to be seen. At least by allowing DB to assemble a squad fairly early doors is a step in the right direction.

He left the club in October 2001 to play for Hayes. Injuries had him stop playing at 25 but has since had a pretty good coaching carrer.

At least there was a Gray playing for the Reserves two matches in August/September 2001.

Don’t think Matt Gray ever signed as a Barnet player, did he? Think he just trained with us after his release from Cardiff.

Harry Taylor just posted him in a Southend hotel, either he’s on his holidays there or going to be signing any day now.

Were we paying him that badly that Southend is the only holiday destination he can afford?!

Exciting young management team. Good support. I think a good move for him if they can put their recent mess behind them and carry the momentum from last season. Will be interesting to see how big of a role he will play there.

We need to emulate Southends recruitment in my opinion. Young players who are proven/too good for the level they are currently at with resale value. Why aren't we looking at these type of players?

Louis Lomas (21) - Brackley NLN
Callum Powell (26) - Kettering NLN
Scott-Morris (25) - Hemel NLS
Dan Mooney (22)- Altrincham NL
Ollie Kensdale (21) - Concord NLS
Noor Husin (24) - Dartford NLS
Jack Wood (19) - Kings Langley Southern League Premier
