Re: striker problem
Yes - they are looking? Yet it's only Barnet among nearby teams on a similar level who end up without a proper strikeforce. For a second consecutive season

Re: striker problem
Funny isn't it that people complain that we are strikers short and then I see them offering up names of players who are woeful.
DB probably will go to pick his team on Saturday and think oh shit we've only got one recognised forward no one told me that. I should of read the fans forum. I might even pick up some ideas on really crap forwards we can sign .....

Re: striker problem
I don't know which one Jeffers was but the St Albans strike force was toothless - worse than ours. As I said at the time. They scored twice because we gifted them goals that even they couldn't miss.WillesdenBee wrote: ↑05 Aug 2022, 09:521. I would have scored both of them. 2. He should have scored 4 more.
Didn't look National League level in my opinion
Maybe they were having an off day but based solely on the PSF, I wouldn't want us to sign their forward(s).

Re: striker problem
We have gone in for several strikers. Something will come up soon. Same as Centre Halves.
Re: striker problem
Maybe we are all looking too low when it comes to our team's managerial ambitions! I can distinctly remember in the past when someone alluded to the fact that we were trying to be the Barcelona of League 2. We obviously failed on that one, but perhaps the idea has been resurrected? Barcelona played without a central striker for some time and we are obviously trying to reproduce that level of excellence in the National League. At least that's what I hope we are trying to do!
Re: striker problem
Jake Hyde started for Southend today and lasted 12 minutes before being subbed with a suspected hamstring injury.rudebwoyben wrote: ↑01 Aug 2022, 19:21
Yes, we really needed to sign someone who was injured for the vast majority of last season.
Re: striker problem
That's funny. Southend are paying £1100 week of Hyde's wages, Wrexham still paying the rest.becbee wrote: ↑06 Aug 2022, 21:46Jake Hyde started for Southend today and lasted 12 minutes before being subbed with a suspected hamstring injury.rudebwoyben wrote: ↑01 Aug 2022, 19:21

Re: striker problem
There were rumours from Southend that he was reluctant to join and felt he was being forced there by Wrexham to help the Dalby deal go through so you have to wonder how injured he really is. A bit like Tasdemir last season?beew wrote:That's funny. Hyde is a luxury player at this level. Won't reliably get a full season out of him and with a bit of an ego. I was told he threw his first team shirt in a Hive skip when he left Barnet...
Re: striker problem
Hope rumours of EMC to Portsmouth wrong - that would leave a big hole with no more signings

Was true, believe he's turned down their terms.
Re: striker problem
That suggests that EMC and his agent must be pretty confident he can get a much better deal elsewhere, maybe once there isn't a significant transfer fee involved next summer. It does suggest that EMC might be around us for the rest of this season which I think is a good thing.WillesdenBee wrote: ↑07 Aug 2022, 18:27Was true, believe he's turned down their terms.

I’m pleasantly surprised if this is the case! Keeping him for the season is essential!pletch99 wrote: ↑08 Aug 2022, 18:13That suggests that EMC and his agent must be pretty confident he can get a much better deal elsewhere, maybe once there isn't a significant transfer fee involved next summer.
