Halifax (Away) The Bee All And End All Match Thread

Post: # 343572Post Bee_Forever »

So..... Saturday sees the bees hit the road as we head up to the dark satanic mills of Halifax to take on a AFC Halifax in our latest Banarama League fixture.

After a rotten start Halifax have done a Wealdstone (no, not got coked up and smashed the bogs) and have picked up 10 points from 15 in their last 5 games. While you can usually bank on a difficult trip to calderdale we find ourselves in a fine vein of form and if we can only draught in another striker I can finally look forward to promotion away from these irritating bankers and the overdrawn puns.

With Accrington attracting a bumper crowd it will be back to the hard core on Saturday especially with England playing at 7pm. I think for the Saka the away fans keeping it at 3pm is the right decision and while the club is not beyond rescheduling matches at short notice they should not be able to Pickford and choose when this happens at short notice. Hopefully our team will put in a Sterling performance and come back from Halifax with the lions share of the points.

In terms of team lineup Kanu and Annesley both seemed to pick up knocks against the thugs so it will be back to the bare bones again on Saturday. Hopefully both are fit enough to play if not then Armstrong has shown himself to be a more than able sub.

------------------------------Walker--------------------------------

-----------------Collinge----Okimo-----Annesley-----------------

--Wynter----------Gorman-------Pritchard----------Beard-------

--------Kanu---------------Kabamba-----------De Havilland-------

Subs: Azaze, Diarra,Armstrong, Shields, Flanagan

I am missing this due to another commitment. Fingers crossed we can get the three points.

Some of the Halifax fans aren’t confident that the game will go ahead because of frost affected pitch.

Some of them was also confident Tuesday game would not go ahead and it did.
Time will tell I guess.

Is their pitch still 90% sand? If so it is unlikely to freeze. The snow forecast on Saturday morning might be more of an issue.

Give them a bit of credit for calling it early shame as we’re playing well

Gives us time to get in another striker, maybe! I was amused at the interview with Chris Wreh of Southend commenting on their current poor form. He said "I don't think there's a team in this division that wouldn't be affected with four strikers out". Four strikers - luxury!

Seriously, with such a small squad it will be a challenge for us to maintain our current position as the winter games pile up.

There again, they're playing well too so it's annoying for both teams. Still, good it's an early call and stops everybody from a wasted journey. Also gives our players a better chance of recovery for our next match.

Purely selfishly, the last few seasons I've always been thwarted in my attempts to go to Halifax and tomorrow would have been no different. I'm hoping now that I might now get there this season after all!

Absolutely. Always a shame for those who have booked travel /overnight stays so they can watch the England match.

But credit to Halifax for the early call to prevent unnecessary travel.

I suppose with players travelling up today for tomorrow's match, it is best of called off early, but according to one weather forecast the temp is not going below 0 after 8pm tonight, and will be above freezing all morning and until after kick off. But it's best to cancel if any doubt, but isn't this there fourth game that has been called off in last few months.

There’s six other Saturday matches already postponed, all in the north.
None as yet postponed in the south, Scotland or Qatar.
