Maidstone (away) The Match Thread Sinking Stones

Post: # 352087Post Bee_Forever »

So.... tomorrow we take on already relegated Maidstone United in a bananarama league fixture.

With Maidstone showing beadlesque form in the National League this feels like a game we should win but beware the wounded animal. With Barham and the chip on his shoulder having departed to Aldershot this should make the stones sedimentary to beat. I hope the Bees will approach this with a clean slate and with be onyx from the first minute with no quartz given.

Despite a fairly painful draw on Saturday a win here and 4 points over the Easter weekend would represent an egg-celent return. We will be hoping to hop to it and roll away the stones and rise again up the table.

Team wise we are restricted in that Moyo is our only recognised striker and although he has his limitations I don't fancy Powell leading the line on his own.

‐----------------------------Walker-------------------------------

---Wynter---Collinge---Potter---Okimo--Beard--

--------De Havilland---Fernandez--Pritchard-----

-----------------Moyo-------Kanu----------------------------

Subs: Callan, Woods, Powell, Hall, Armstrong

I am doing this one by train. Hoping to get back to winning ways

Maidstone have a plastic pitch - so yes!
I love Luisma & really miss his skils!

Am I right in thinking that the away end is uncovered? ( I know it's only a few weeks since we last visited but that wasn't relevant then! )

Covered stand behind the goal that I’m very jealous of. Would be very good in the South stand!

Is Moyo really a striker? I hadn't noticed.

Thanks for this. I was worried about a soaking.
Just proves how unobservant I am that despite having been twice before, I still needed to ask!

Thought he did ok against Bromley. For me issue was that as we are not playing - 4 3 3, he was too isolated at times with Kanu/RDH not running into pockets of space. Has been the same with Kabamba since changing formation

Agree, I don't feel he deserves the criticism he gets, for one he doesn't normally play when Nicki and Smith are available but then he is brought in from the dark and some expect for him t not the ground running, but for me we play as if Kabamba or Smith are up there, and he is not that kind of player, so hopefully if he is our only fit striker we give him a chance and actually play to his strengths. But whatever he needs support not pressure.

We should play a front 3 of Powell,Moyo & Kanu today but I doubt that we will!

That’s the front 3. No Okimo. Decent enough team to win it, huge 3 points up for grabs COYB

Just met most the non playing squad on the high street, all in club gear bar Gorman, so he may be out for a while longer. Harry Smith was there too, and his injury looks to have healed impressively quickly, so he may be back for Sat. No sign of NK though.
