its now glaringly obvious that Solihull was the blip where Flowers was concerned and he wasn't the top manager some hoped he was when he arrived. can't see him getting too many more goes at any kind of decent level of football!

"Man up", "We're a team of losers", "if you're 30 and still naive, suggest you go and play football in the garden with the kids, or pub football", "he's a proper lad, I like him", "we find a way to concede some minging goals, absolutely minging". Some of the quotes which come to mind.

It was hilarious in a gallows humour way, as was that whole season, at least in hindsight. One of his successors opening his first interview with the very self-aware "let's be honest it's not ideal, I'm not a football manager."
