For one-team towns/cities of 100,000-200,000 like Chesterfield, there is definitely a distinct identity which the whole place can get behind. Very difficult as stated for Barnet to do the same. We compete with probably the world's largest collection of wealthy, well-known and quality sides in one city. Very hard to stand out and have a presence, but we try!jzsbee wrote: ↑13 Nov 2023, 18:47 I was away for my wedding anniversary in Suffolk and my Wife very generously agreed to go to the Ipswich vs. Swansea game where we pretty much got the last two tickets.
Not only did Jack Taylor score a worldie for the Tractor Boys, his passing was sublime and he got a well-deserved MOTM, basically doing Jack Taylor things. In the unlikely event that Ipswich don't get promoted he will still be Premier League next season, very pleased for him. Nice also to see Jamal Lowe get a very good goal for Swansea.
Great to see a whole town decked out in their team's colours, everyone in the area supporting the same team. Obviously with so many teams in London that isn't practical but having that shared communal experience must be pretty special.
Anyway, in terms of this topic, it sounds like we gave it a real good go in the 1st half; only one game, plenty to play for in what so far has been a cracking season.

Our fan base is now very dispersed. We are picking up support around our current location but of course the biggest part of our support is in or near High Barnet plus we have lots of fans from out in Hertfordshire and other parts of North London.

Would be cool if we geo-mapped our fanbase using a survey tool. Pretty easy to do once the data comes in. Maybe the BFCSA already have this with the membership member details (using postcodes). Google Map has a great feature where you can dump in the csv file and it populates on a map.

From memory I seem to recall a survey like this previously. I'm not sure what it proves unless 100% ( or at very least the great majority) of fans complete it. Even then, there could be fans living locally but without transport who have far more difficulty in getting to matches than those living further afield who drive to matches.EastBarnetFan wrote: ↑14 Nov 2023, 13:03 Would be cool if we geo-mapped our fanbase using a survey tool. At the very least, it would be interesting where we have fans across the UK and abroad. Maybe we have a random cluster of fans in Yorkshire that we didn't know about (ex-Londoners). I'm certain we'll have fans in Australia and America scattered around.

My partner lives in Chesterfield, and pretty much everyone we know supports them !! ( except her who is a Forest fan) I stayed over and we went to a remembrance service on Sunday morning, where many people were wearing the joint club badge / poppy pin..in Chesterfield colours.. luckily I held my head high and had my Barnet / Poppy pin on

National League order the Southend v Chesterfield game to go ahead after Southend requested a postponement.
Honestly the Southend we face compared to them will be ridiculous.

Re: Chesterfield (A) The Chester Way I'm Fielding Match Thread
Southend requested a postponement because 3 of their players have been called up for International Duty. The Premier League and Championship don't have matches this weekend, 8 League 1 and 3 League 2 matches have been postponed - all for that reason. We had matches postponed when Jack Taylor was called up because we also had call ups for the reserve keeper and the young Cypriot lad - ie 2 who wouldn't have even been in the first eleven. Yet Southend ask because they are losing 3 first choice starters from what is a very small squad to start with. Would the NL have refused the request for postponement had any other NL club made it?

The fact that this game is being shown live on TNT must have influenced the NL’s decision to reject a postponement.becbee wrote: ↑15 Nov 2023, 08:06 Southend requested a postponement because 3 of their players have been called up for International Duty. Both decisions unreasonable.

That’s so disappointing. The one thing Chesterfield don’t need is a helping hand.

The request was made very late, plus it looks like Noor Husin has rejected his call up.becbee wrote:Southend requested a postponement because 3 of their players have been called up for International Duty. The request was made on the basis that 3 players had been called up. If one has since decided to withdraw, that's irrelevant to the original decision.#Beebot wrote: ↑15 Nov 2023, 10:39The request was made very late, plus it looks like Noor Husin has rejected his call up.becbee wrote:Southend requested a postponement because 3 of their players have been called up for International Duty. As for the request being made late, surely the relevant factor here is when the third player actually received his call ups?
